I really struggle to think of anything I didn't like. It really feels like the hotel has been well thought out and considered, down to the elevator automatically selecting your floor when you swipe your card.

This hotel is an absolute hidden gem. the quality of the hotel, the staff, the room, everything was amazing. Of all the things I would recommend to someone visiting Japan, I would say Kyoto has been my favourite city and this hotel has been incredible.

The room was lovely, it felt huge after staying in a very small Tokyo hotel. Large bed, good sized shower, and the lounge was lovely. We visited for our honeymoon and the staff surprised us with a cute message on the bed. Everyone there was super helpful and nice! We will recommend Insomnia to anyone we know visiting Kyoto :)

One of the best hotels we have stayed at. The room was spacious and modern, the shower was more than expected from a hotel room. The facilities that the hotel provide with the free bread, cold and hot drinks in the lobby 24/7 is something that sets them aside from other hotels. The staff were exceptional and kind and went out of their way to help us with luggage forwarding ensuring it would get to our next place that day. The location was less than 200m from the train station and easily walkable to the shops, convenience stores and food courts. I will be staying here for future visits and highly recommend it to anyone

It´s a very nice hotel with a nice vibe. The lounge is cosy, with drinks and bread all day. There is a laundry room which works with coins and rooms are confortable.

It was perfect. No negatives at all.

I loved this hotel so much! The room is small, as normal in most Japanese hotels, but space is well used. Our room had a nice big window with a kind of sofa next to it which was a lovely space to relax in. The window had a nice view. The bed was comfortable and had space underneath to store luggage. Great bathroom with a shower and tub (Japanese style - ie. You shower outside the tub and then relax in the hot tub). It is worth noting that there is no breakfast service, but they offer juice, coffee and a selection of bread and pastries. For us, this was perfect - we bought some extras from the local convience store to add to what the hotel offered and it was a perfect breakfast. The location is awesome - super central but a quiet area, too. One the best hotels I have ever stayed in: comfortable, stylish, and with great attention to detail.

Not much storage space for clothing in the room, but space under the bed for suitcases.

Staff was very friendly and spoke great English which was helpful as a foreigner. Rooms were a little small but were very comfortable and nicely decorated. Bathroom was nice and shower was great. Included breakfast pastries were very good and lobby area in general was quite nice.

Would have been nice to have some draws or shelves to put your clothes in. We stayed for 2 weeks so not enough room to put all your clothes. Having said that, got very use to just dressing out of your suitcase. Under bed draws would work as the bed has space underneath.

Excellent facilities down stairs in the communal area. Snacks, Juice , coffee all free. Rotation on baked food to eat, excellent value for money. Once you workout your location very easy to get to everything.excellent bathroom nice space well planned. Down size the shower head finer head would be better but all in all excellent pressure and jets for your body. Well thought out additions down stairs if you for got toothbrush, brush etc. Excellent staff as well real pleasure staying here.

I wish the room was a bit bigger so we could open 2 large suitcases. But it seems most hotel rooms in Kyoto are similar in size.

Convenient location close to metro. The hotel room was nicely furnished, with a comfortable bed. Nice shower room including both shower and bathtub. Clean towels were provided daily. Amazing and friendly personnel at the reception. They also helped us with storing our luggage before check-in. A great bonus was the delicious all-day snacks and beverages at the hotel lobby.

We really liked our stay at Insomnia, great hotel, great (v friendly) staff, great location (we walked to Giion, Ninenkaza/Sannenkaza and Kiyomizu-dera from here), close to Karasuma OIKE station and 7eleven. Rooms are also very comfortable! We loved the lounge area with the free goodies and coffee/tea.

Perhaps needed another mirror - maybe in the toilet room. I asked staff to phone a restaurant to make a restaurant booking for us in Tokyo as we were traveling there the next day but they said they could only phone places in Kyoto - even though I was offering the use of my mobile phone - this seemed a little strange given how helpful they’d been otherwise. No cupboard in the room, just a few coat hooks with hangers on the wall.

Excellent location with good transport to all parts of city. Lovely cool lounge with vinyl record player as background vibe, free bread and pastries, coffee and tea. Bedroom a reasonable size, very well equipped, modern and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Iron and ironing board available on request. Comfortable bed, pillows and good shower.
