The house was perfect. Nice interior design, comfortable beds, nice bath and shower, great location. The host brought us breakfast in the morning, provided us “Yukata” (their tipical summer kimonos) and complementary drinks were included.

The only thing we didn’t enjoy were the pillows — they were extremely soft and squishy, and just not to our preference.

Communication was excellent from start to finish. On arrival, we were welcomed with little gifts and a personal note, which was a really thoughtful touch. Breakfast was served just for us in the lounge on both mornings — one Japanese-style and one Western — and both were beautifully done. The location was fantastic: very close to the station, lots of nice restaurants nearby, yet set in a peaceful residential area. The private onsen bath was a highlight — it was so convenient, and we could reheat the water whenever needed. Yukata and slippers were provided, along with complimentary drinks in the fridge, which made the whole stay feel extra special.

The location and the design

Given the townhouse was a restored historical building, there were a couple features that one should be aware of. Namely, 1) the building has low ceilings so a tall person needs to be mindful as they walk around, and 2) the bathroom is on the first floor and the bedroom on the 2nd so at night one has to go down a steep set of stairs to go to the bathroom. These two features didn't detract from our stay however and we thought it was an amazing experience.

Townhouse is absolutely charming and a very unique stay. Great location next to the historic area of Takayama. The property managers were very responsive and made sure we were taken care of.

Your hospitality is second to none, very relaxing environment and all the facilities one needs to feel at home . The studio apartment was perfect for our needs, and centrally located to the bus and train station , 300 meters . Clean spacious and well appointed, very quiet and tranquil space! Nothing needed improvement

A truly comfortable and luxurious experience, great attention to detail and very generous inclusions. The interior of this renovated 140 yr old townhouse is just stunning, stylishly evoking a warm traditional feel with its ricepaper screens and huge timber beams, but also packed with comforts like huge and comfortable beds, large screen Smart TV, state of the art bathrooms, luxury linens, magnificent private onsen, and high-end toiletries. A warm and personalised welcome, and we were also collected with our bags at the end of our stay. Very convenient location, within easy walking distance of the Takayama historic centre and temple trails.One of the nicest places we have ever stayed in.

The pillows were too soft for our liking, but it wouldn’t stop us staying there again.

What a beautiful place in a great location. We were met with a warm welcome, shown to the parking space then to our room. Even though I had read the description of the studio room, I had totally missed the point that we could use the whole building. Staff use the reception area for arrivals, but once they’re complete, we were left alone in the building and could use of the lounge and kitchen if desired.

Wow, what a find. I wish we had more time, the onsen was fantastic, the location is close to the train station but still felt far enough that you didn't feel the hustle and bustle. The place itself was spotless, cute and cozy. Spacious and comfortable. We loved it! Thierno provided exceptional service when we checked in.

It’s nothing bad but if you are a very tall person you may need to be careful with the beams above your head to avoid banging into them.

Great location, easy to get to all attractions in Takayama. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We received a nice welcome gift (tasty Japanese sweets and snacks) from them and it made the experience special. Amenities were all good. Generous amount of free drinks in the fridge. The house was beautifully done inside with modern facilities and spacious (we were a group of 3).
