It was characterful and service was exceptional. Food was superbly presented and varied. We liked the onsen.

Not a problem for me, but if onsens aren’t your thing, then there are no other washing facilities.

Loved the rooms and the food was amazing. The onsen baths incredible.

My stay at this ryokan was absolutely stunning. The traditional architecture, serene atmosphere, and impeccable attention to detail made the experience unforgettable. The warm hospitality and exquisite dinner elevated the stay even further. I left feeling both relaxed and inspired, already wishing to return.

Attractive, traditional ryokan hotel. The enjoyed trying a Japanese style room and the traditional dining. Attractive onsen. Staff all super helpful and very kind.

The food is best suited to adventurous eaters.

There was a Yukata, the food was good, the property was well located, nice and peaceful. They also provided the basic amenities.

There weren’t room slippers and there wasn’t lotion.

I loved the traditional Japanese room. They made the futon while i was having diner! I highly appreciate that. The futon was great to sleep in, onsen was amazing.

I didn't find the foo as amazing as i had anticipated, din't have enough flavours that stood out to me, only texture.

It was a wonderful way to experience a traditional ryokan. We were warmly welcomed with a shuttle pickup, tea service, and a clear explanation of the facilities. The staff was very kind and attentive. The location is perfect, right by the shrine and nature. The onsen was relaxing, and the whole atmosphere was peaceful.

Staff and general atmosphere were exceptional, a completely unique experience not to be missed when in Japan.

We had a hard time getting our room cool enough at night to the point that I had trouble sleeping. Also there was a foul smell that I noticed at night while I was awake for the room temperature. Not sure what that was.

Staying at the hotel was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had. I went as a solo traveller and can imagine it would be even better with family and friends. An authentic Japanese Ryokan - when I arrived the hostess first explained how everything worked, and made me feel at ease. They provided a yatuka outfit that I could wear around the hotel which was fun. Dinner was extraordinary, with a huge variety of things to try. The onsen overlooking the river was lovely and I could hear the river sounds as I fell asleep on my futon bed. The best part was waking up at 6am to visit the Tori gate and the shrine (5 mins walk away) when it first opened and it was almost empty. The ropeway station was also nearby so I headed there in the morning and didn’t need to wait in line. Incredible experience and certainly worth treating yourself to a night at Iwaso!
