Room is very simple (though it was fine). It was clean other than a lot of dust on top of the fridge (where I had wanted to put some stuff). The room could do with a small light other than just the ceiling light.

Very near the beach. Simple accommodation at a good price. We enjoyed hanging out in the outdoor area. You can use showers and parking until 1400 on the day of check out which is convenient. Staff were friendly.

One of the other group of guests were a bit noisy and chaotic. One old guy was spitting loudly outside our room and at one point vomited in the entrance. This is not the fault of the accommodation, but left us feeling uneasy.

Rooms are quite dated and very humid. The futon is really thin and not the best for those not used to it. However, given for the price it was completely fine.

Value for price is great, and location is just a few steps away from the beach. They let us use the outdoor facilities like shower and changing rooms even after check out, which was great and made it possible to enjoy the full day at the beach. I can’t thank enough the staff for being so kind in accepting my request to change dates of the booking on the same day I was supposed to arrive due to some health reasons. They were wonderful.

The room was too stuffy & you could not open the windows because there were things blocking the view. It was old but it was too dusty and my son is allergic to house dust so he was not comfortable.

The location was great. Good value during summer. BBQ was really good :)

Lightening in the rooms is poor. Actually, we had just a one light bulb on the sealing. Also, it would be great if there is a garbage basket for used tissue papers nearby the washroom.

People who work there are very friendly! They helped me by looking after my 3 y.o. child several times. For example, while I was busy with washing beach staff from sand. My son became a friend with them for 2.5 days of stay ))) Barbecue was delicious! I liked cosy atmosphere of the garden at night, when most of guests gathered together, enjoying dinner and communicating to each other. Parking is right close to the door! Very convenient.

Not much to dislike. The room was a little old and not big, but we slept 4 comfortably. Fridge, TV, air-purifier, and AC all made for a more comfortable stay. Family with kids upstairs made a lot of noise bouncing around early in the morning. Probably better to have families with kids downstairs when possible. I would recommend a little more selection for alcoholic beverages as well.

The gentlemen that work there were just that - friendly and looking after your needs. We hadn't booked meals and went out looking but the places close by were either closed or full due to reservations. The staff were able to prepare a bbq dinner with an hour's notice (went shopping to get the food). The bbq is just under 4000yen with a drink included and worth it. A lot of food - possibly too much for the ladies. The outdoor seating area is very nice. It provides a casual meeting area for guests which is always a good time. The best part is the convenience of the outdoor showers and the one around the back which is surrounded by 'jungle' suits couples or a family (2 showers together). There are also indoor showers and baths for those who prefer that. The location was pretty convenient being a 5-min walk to the main beach.

Nothing it was perfect

I would like to give a special thanks to the owner of Churaumi. Nothing was a bother, exceptionally helpful even when I lost my room key. It’s a warm friendly guest house that is ideally located for the beach. I highly recommend staying here, it made my Japan trip. Oh and the outside jungle shower is wonderful!

remember to bring your own towels.

The guest house is super sweet with a great garden to hang out. Our room was quite big and we slept very well on the futon mats. We even had our own fridge. The guest house is easy to reach from the Izukyu-Shimoda train station. There is a bus pass for 1100 Yen for 2 days which was great to explore some beaches. 7/11 and family mart in walking distance and microwave / water boiler provided at the guest house. We had a great time and would definitely come again.

We didn't like the service provided. They said they offer BBQ for their guests but they refused to give it to us. The shared room had a smell which was uncomfortable.

In the last day of our stay I don’t know where it came from but there is a faul smell maybe coming from the toilet or from drainage.
