The location of the apartment on the old Nakasendo route was a real bonus although it was a bit far to the station.

The decision of the host to place my wife and I on two futons in the open plan kitchen/sitting room when they was an option of using an upstairs sleeping area was a bit strange. Also despite a beautiful wooden table in the lounge area, a tiny totally impractical table in the kitchen dining area where two people could sit and have a coffee but little more. Also when you access the toilet you could in theory be seen from the street since the glass front door entrance has no curtain.

Quiet cute place with historical buildings in the area. You can walk around and enjoy the neighborhood. Real pretty at night time. If you pay attention, you might find some surprises.

Not too many restaurants nearby that you do need to walk at least 10 min out of the area to find more places to eat. The flower shop in front of the inn does her preparation super early and you will definitely hear it. The noise did not bother me, but my other family members did wake up and could not fall back asleep.

A design/architectural masterpiece, cherishing the post & beam old structure wedded with modern functionality. A really fully appointed kitchen to cook anything for a large group, very clean, comfy futons, a couch for relaxing, spacious, quiet, TWO shower/washbasins stalls, in a beautiful, historic part of town where the locals take pride in keeping the history alive, and the area beautiful. Enjoy the "mini Nachasendo promenade. Much preferred the "aliveness" of this hstoric post town more than Magome or Tsumago.

    Everything perfect!

We had a great stay here! The property was super clean and roomy. As a couple our beds were set up in the front room where the mountain is pictured on the wall, however there was more than enough space. It was perfect for us to spend a day on the Nakasendo trail. About a 10 - 15 minute walk to the train station. The host was also very responsive and allowed us to check in early :)

The location was good, there was lots of room, and the man in the next door kitchenware shop was so lovely helping us with our taxi booking.

    No TV

It was neat to be right in a cute old post town area that was surprisingly void of tourists. The place itself is very comfortable, and modern. It's set up well with a full kitchen, two showers (each with their own sink area), a separate toilet room, a nice living area, and the sleeping area. If you have just two people, you'll be using that full main area, which is like a spacious studio. If you have more, than other rooms would be open to you.

The beds were thicker than most Japanese mats, but still basically thick mats on the floor. We aren't used to it, so our backs could feel it after a few days. One other thing to note is that the apartment is on the other side of a flower shop, and the privacy is light (we could see the flower shop through the screen, and I'm assuming vice-versa). While we were there, the flower shop was closed, and they do seem to have minimal hours, so that might not be an issue while you are there.

loved the spacious and well-appointed kitchen, washer and dryer, and the very Scandinavian minimalist and clean interior. Was quiet. Great location in the historic part of town, less than 1km to a major shopping mall with Starbucks and great food court with all the standard Japanese favourites like Tonkatsu, yakisoba, tempura, sushi, the lot. "Naiki" around the corner has fabulous bento boxes, made fresh to order in the morning if you wish. Free parking nearby (a rarity). Lovely historic detailing in the area with signs in English and Japanese giving the history of buildings etc. Really nicely done.

The floors are such smooth floorboards that the mattresses (very comfortable) would skid a lot, so you had to get up and down carefully. There were a few hard-to-see mini-steps in the apartment - one from the living room to kitchen that caught me a few times, and another upstairs in the front bedroom that was only 5cm or so, but it was so easy to trip on. With the floorboards the same colour on both sides it was hard to see. Tall people hit their heads a few times on the low beam until they remembered.

Downstairs was a little cool. Finding it was a bit tricky.

The spacious layout was great. Nice and clean and good kitchen. Beautiful old doors and real wood.

If you’re traveling as a couple for just one night this place is suitable. However, we stayed as a group of 6 (including 2 children) for 3 days, so we did our laundry a lot and cooked dinners. However, the dryer is small and has to be run for at least 4 hours to work - there is no drying rack or place to hang washing at all. We only had 5 towels and no hand towels for the entire stay and there was nowhere to hang wet towels. There was only 4 packets of coffee for all of us for 3 days, I think a coffee a day each would be nice for the high price we paid to stay here. The dining space is small with just 2 chairs to keep it spacious, but this isn’t sufficient for a family. (You can sit down on the floor at the living room table but that table isn’t good for children to eat food on because it’s live wood with holes in it and an uneven edge). I also prefer good cotton sheets but this place has synthetic bedding. The floor is real wood which is lovely but this one was so slippery! You can’t wear only socks so watch out for your children. The showers are plastic and one of the holders needs repairing. There was no TV. All of these things wouldn’t bother me if it wasn’t so expensive.

Well-lit, comfortable, well-equipped apartment. Great location right in the middle of old-style Nakatsugawa. Free parking.

Overall this is a nice comfortable place to stay.

The third room actually the loft which is a bit cramp for adult. Would appreciate if was informed that luggage can be stored until 3pm only earlier during reservation enquiry.
