Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaWhen we first arrived in Hachinohe, we tried to reach the property by train and bus but it did not work as planned. It was much better when we accepted the hosts’ offer to drive us to and from the train station!!
We loved everything about our stay here! The location is very peaceful, the Japanese style room was very prettily decorated and spacious, and the Miyako and her husband were fabulous hosts. They were so friendly and helpful, and made us feel very well cared for. Miyako prepared delicious and generous meals for us that were absolutely beautiful. She was also a huge help with arranging luggage transfer for us as we began our planned hike along the Michinoku trail. And she and her husband offered to drive us to and from Hachinohe station at a very reasonable rate, which is a big help and big time saver because Hachinohe is very spread out.

Very cosy homelike atmosphere run by a very nice local. Comfortable beds and very roomy. Extremely helpful host who was very accommodating with our requests to see places the next day, drove us around and waited. We had a great time and got the local experience, saw a wonderful traditional dance and string instrument performance at the guest house. Highly recommend also Hachinohe park especially during cherry blossom season. Kushihiki Hachiman shrine, Kabushima shrine and lunch at the Hasshoku centre fish markets where you can shop and cook your own seafood.

Absolutely lovely and memorable experience. Mayuko-san and her family were so kind and friendly, it really made lifelong memories for our family of four, right down to our 7 year old. She cooked scrumptious dinner, and even accommodated for vegetarians. The shamisen and singing performance was fantastic, and she was even able to arrange last minute Shamisen lessons with her student, which was icing on the cake. The lodge itself is comfortable, clean, and well maintained, with good atmosphere, adequate heating, comfortable futon bedding, and good facilities. The location is also great, close to Tanesashi coast and many apple and fruit farms for fruit picking.

Nice and friendly host. We were late for our check in but the host advised us to go for our dinner first before the restaurant closes at 8.30pm. They waited for us to check in after nine. A pity that we checked in late and left early morning for the Sunday market.

United StatesIt’s a bit far from the city center. Over an hour by bus, which only runs during the day. I believe they can arrange a pick up if you get in contact with them
Very warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff were beyond helpful. Stay included a traditional song and dance performance in the hosts kitchen which was amazing. Staff was also helpful in getting from the property to nearby attractions

JapanStaying in a traditional Japanese home with free live shamisen and minyo performances was an amazing experience. For a extra cost, she taught my wife the Tsugarujamisen and me how to make the delicious Nambu delicacy, Senbei-jiru. The premises were immaculate the freshly replaced tatami rooms aromatic. It is a little bit off the beaten path but easy enough to find with GPS.

NetherlandsOur stay at the guesthouse was a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, Mayuko, the host, made us feel at home and showed us around in her nice house. Our futons were already laid out in a spacious, traditional room. Later that day, at night, she took us by car to the centre of Hachinohe and introduced us to the owners of a food stall with some exquisite food. The next morning we were treated to an extensive and delicious Japanese breakfast with local delicacies. We had rented a car and Mayuko provided us with a perfect itinerary for a day trip, from the remarkable Seagull-temple, to a beautiful hike along the coastline, to the most impressive indoor foodmarket we have seen in Japan. That night Mayuko cooked us a very tasty dinner, before it was time for the highlight of our visit: a performance of traditional Japanese music and dance, performed by the host accompanied by het sister and niece. Mayuko and het sister are top level performers in the field of traditional Japanese singing and dancing. Also very interesting was the explanation of the meaning of the dance and the way their performance art is passed on through the generations. So, if you are looking for a genuine and authentic Japanese experience, visit the guesthouse!

FinlandThe place might be a little challenging to find, since it's on a residential area.
Mayuko-san was an extremely welcoming host, and I received high praise for being the first Finnish person to stay at her guesthouse. I didn't try any traditional Japanese arts that she teaches, but on the last morning she kindly took me to see a shamisen performance. Highly recommend this place!

DenmarkMy stay here was Truly amazing. Stepping Through the door you get hit with a welcoming and extremely wholesome feeling. I got welcomed by Mayuko, the Incredibly kind owner, who you easily can have a fun and great conversation with. She taught me a little about the classic japanese dance and how to play shamisen, for both she has mastered (once you see the trophies you know). I got fed some incredibly delicious meals, and enough to feel completely stuffed. I was Incredibly lucky to be here with two other guests, who I shared some great laughs with. As a guesthouse comes , this is it in its finest sense. A great place where a feeling of openness and being welcomed, seeps through the air, and as you get to know the owner and other guests you get to share a wonderful time together. As I had to leave I found out the bus that I was planning on taking didn't run, Mayuko ended up driving me. I caught my bus in the nick of time, with her being the hero of the day. Thank you for everything!

NetherlandsAlthough not particularly bad, it has to be noted that the guesthouse is in a somehat remote place. Travelers not traveling by car should be wary of a walk from the train station or pay close attention to the (infrequent) bus times, especially during icy winters.
Lovely host with some English communication skills - expect a Japanese-English mix, though this ought not dissuade. Smooth check-in with a tour of the facilities. Most essential amenities provided. Facilities were clean. Local products can be bought at the Guesthouse including apple juice, original Japanese honey (made by the next-door family), and miniature instruments. One of us tried a shamisen lesson with the host for ¥3000, which was fun and interesting.

CanadaIt's a bit out of the way and a different rail company so your JR pass don't work. But you can get picked up at Tika Takaiwa by the host for 500 yen or Hachinohe station for 1000 yen. If you are good on your feet it can be a nice walk in
The host is exceptional to make your stay memorable, she whips up traditional food in a few minutes before your eyes and always has a big smile.
