We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

SingaporeMy family is delighted to see a brightly lit , beautiful big house after quite a bit of driving in the countryside . We arrived Takita-Kan at dusk, in time for a heart warming dinner prepared by the host, is garden to table freshness, is delicious. My family totally enjoyed our stay which is very comfortable and clean, rustic charms meets modernity at Takita-Kan , just lovely, exceeds my expectations . Will be back again to see the stars and Milky Way. Thank you very much to Kazu and Maki , you are great hosts 😘

This guesthouse is truly special. The accommodation (we chose the amazing family room) has been beautifully restored, the private onsen with incredible alkaline waters was fantastic after a long day of walking and driving. The area is indescribably peaceful, a beautiful rural hideaway to be at peace with the world. The river and shrine nearby were spectacular. We would strongly recommend both dinner and breakfast - Maki is an amazing chef using fresh local ingredients and tailoring the menu to our needs. Perhaps the best aspect was our hosts, who made us feel completely at home. Our only regret was not staying longer - we’ll be returning!

NetherlandsJust stayed at this ryokan and honestly had the best experience! The ryokan is owned by a hospitable couple that speaks English perfectly, of which one is a former photographer and the other is a former chef. The latter can be enjoyed to the fullest as they offer dinner and breakfast. I enjoyed the food so much, that I dare say it is one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan. They use ingredients from their own field in the backyard, which made them fresh and with a lot of flavor. The countryside is also the view for most of the rooms with big windows to enjoy the morning sun. They were also flexible and made me breakfast even though I had to leave really early. I think it is clear that I recommend this ryokan and would love to come back.

Very friendly hosts who went out of their way to make our stay very pleasant and enjoyable. The building is comfortable, the onsen is great to relax, and the food is so fresh and tasty… highly recommend!
