Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandUnfortunately they don’t offer vegan/vegetarian breakfast. It would be great if the hotel could offer this option too.

Awesome hotel. Beautiful lobby/restaurant on bottom level is surrounded by greenery. Nice chill, relaxing vibe….could hang out all day. Room is huge and comfy, great block out blinds and best pillows in Japan. Breakfast is great and staff are all super friendly! Location near station and 15min walk from beach can’t be beat in Kamakura

The breakfast was a beautiful start to the day and the room itself was perfection! The location for Kamakura is also right where you need it to explore such a wonderful town.

IrelandThat I didn’t stay for more than two nights. I really didn’t want to leave and I know better now to stay longer the next time I visit.
This was my favourite hotel during my recent trip. It’s a beautiful building with stylish and modern architecture. The hotel is 1min from Kinokuniya (supermarket) and about 3min walk from Kamakura Station, so it’s incredibly central and only a short walk to Komachi street. The room and bath were spotless and the bed was super comfy. I slept really well as the hotel had a very peaceful and quiet vibe. While I didn’t opt to have breakfast included, I tried their deserts and coffee on the first day, and a very tasty soup with freshly bread, ham, vegetables and some mango pieces, and pineapple juice on the second day. The food was top quality. It had a continental in style yet with that extra local Japanese freshness. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Considering the quality of everything that was on offer, it’s clearly down to all their hard work. My bad arrived on the 2nd day and that staff were super amazing to look after it for me. I am very grateful for their friendly nature and their hard work. Arigato Gozaimasu😊 Kamakura is beautiful and I really hope to visit again in the not too distant future. Even better if I get to stay at Kamakura Seizan again too!

JapanOnly minor things, mentioning so it maybe improves to go from a 9 to a 10: - The lack of bedside lamps is strange. There was one small lamp that was probably added because of prior comments. But it's still not enough! - Breakfast is a set you need to order the day before. It's good but lacks variety. No option for vegetarians other than removing meat (not compensated by addition of eggs or fruits!) - It's not cheap, but that's Kamakura, where options are limited. Considering the area and location, I felt I got my money's worth. It's not a business hotel for sure.
Excellent. Very close to the station but in a quiet location. Larger room than usual. Very nice view from the window out onto trees. Helpful staff. Very nice downstair cafe/breakfast area, with natural light and greenery. Not the most comfortable seating but very nice atmosphere.

Great location. Kamakura is a really nice place and hotel was just round the corner from the station - really convenient, but still quiet. The room decor was really beautiful - pictures don’t do it justice

CanadaThe only thing we missed was eggs for breakfast. But that's only a preference not actually something we "didn't like"
Extremely comfortable beds. Great room size compared to anything else in Japan. We loved the shampoo and body products they provide. The breakfast was delicious, pork vindaloo was our choice. It's not the type of food we're accustomed to eating at breakfast, but it was terrific. The staff were always so friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The hotel itself is beautiful and the walkway up to reception from the roadway is so serene. This was our favorite hotel in Japan out of our 4 week visit. It's on a street with easy walking access to plenty of places to eat and about a 20 minute stroll to the beach.

United KingdomA spacious and modern open-plan reception, adorned with beautiful plants and flowers, giving a warm and inviting atmosphere. The room is immaculate, with a unique twist of wood floors, concrete walls, and rough plastering, creating a zen feeling. The bathroom is well-designed, featuring a separate bath and shower room, an ultra-modern Japanese toilet that automatically opens and lights up when you enter, and a smart mirror sink area for getting ready. The clever window design allows you to open it, installed is an opaque or blackout sliding screen, or the option to keep it closed. The room includes a fridge, kettle, and a small sitting area, providing ample space to hang a few clothes and leave your bags.

United KingdomNo bath in the room , but shower was great. Breakfast was included but unfortunately was very limited to just 3 set dishes of local fare including a meat curry, which felt a bit bizarre for breakfast.
A stylish hotel , very centrally located to the buzzy shopping & eating streets of kamakura. helpful friendly staff , clean rooms, quiet neighbourhood , 25 min walk to the Giant Buddha Shrine & beach , 5 min walk to shops & cafes , lovely neighbourhood feel . Very good bathroom soap & shampoo. Nice cafe area & local gifts in the downstairs lobby.

GermanyWe stayed unfortunately only for a night but I was surprised at how big the room was. Also, the twin beds were very big and comfy. We like the simple design with lots of wood elements very much. Even the card keys were from wood. The Front Office Personal was very kind. We came too early, and she took our language, and when we came back, our laguage was in the rooms.

SingaporeNo hot spring and no onsen and no TV in the room
The location is excellent. Very near to Komachi Street where you can find many eateries The staff are very helpful and friendly. The room size is very big. Unfortunately, it is quite bare. Wondering why there is no TV in the room? The only regret is that there should be a onsen or hot spring where we could relax and would have enjoy more
