The breakfast each day was different and very delicious. We loved being served which made it very relaxing, and the overall atmosphere in the breakfast area was very serene. Views out to the river were spectacular. We particularly loved our room which looked out onto the river. This hotel was one I didn't want to leave as I just wanted to soak up the relaxation. The hotel was a lovely size and I loved all the treats that were available throughout our stay like the icecream, evening snacks in the foyer and drinks. Loved being in the middle of the forest beside that gorgeous river.

Meal was not as good. It’s like fine dining style They like to use the mini solid fuel that doesn’t last very long. Second night was supposed to be hot pebble grill but before I could cook my meat properly the solid fuel ran out May be I could have asked for more. You get to choose either seafood or meat. I chose meat but the taste and amount of meat was also underwhelming. Seafood choice was better if u like seafood.

View from the room! Serene environment. Very good and considerate service! They know my husbands leg was not good and they always prepared the easiest accessible seat in the restaurant for our meal. Private onsen, public onsen, onsen in the room was great!!

Food was REALLY bad, and with almost no vegetarian options at all. The "western breakfast" had mostly non breakfast dishes (such as lasagna). Staff had a hard time with English which lead to miscommunication, and we were charged quite a lot for a dinner we didn't even touch.

The facilities themselves were phenomenal, and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience

It is a little too warm in the room from the heater.

Room is nicely decorated with good amenities. The view is the highlight. We were greeted by a deer outside the window when we arrived. It's very relaxing to just sit and watch the river flow by. Good break fast and dinner as well.

Relative small and private onsen area facing the calming streams. Our room had a private onsen and that was great. The view from the room was spectacular and amenities was well provided for. We opted the dinner and breakfast and it was good. The public/reserved onsen area was great. They provided welcome drinks and supper as well which was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by roaming deers at the stream and this closeness to nature experience was amazing. Overall highly recommend.

The dinner and breakfast were excellent. We always have a nice view of the river while we dine. Our room was also facing the river. The scenery was so tranquil. We love the onsen, and the option of having a private onsen as well. I love everything about this place.

The Hotel room was breathtaking! You could see deer from your hotel window and a great view of the river. The hotel offered private onsen and even had one in the room. Great if you have tattoos. The breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend staying here.

The food can be better.

Breakfast is okay. Location is superb. Outdoor onsen is wonderful. Soak in nature. Beautiful. Feel fully recharged. A great experience.

Beautiful location, immersed in nature. The rooms were exceptional. We could have sat at the window watching the river and wildlife for hours. On top of that were the wonderful meals.

Duvet - too hot non-breathable material. Can’t be under duvet for too long as it gets really hot. And can’t stay uncovered for too long as it gets too cold (although we didn’t turn on the heater as we didn’t like sleeping with the heater switched on). Perhaps resort should consider using a better duvet or provide a thinner option

Food was excellent! View from room was mesmerizing! Outdoor onsen was beautiful albeit somewhat small compared to other resorts.

To avoid this situation please let them know well in advance if you have any dietary needs. Reception staff made me feel awful about being vegetarian. Throughout this stay it was presumed I couldn't understand Japanese so I understood her complaints right in front of us. My husband can't understand Japanese and he said the body language and sighing were clearly complaints anyway. We are staying in many places on this trip with meals included but this was the only time I felt awful about being vegetarian. She asked if we would like dinner and that's when I said, and she said it won't be possible. As for breakfast she made a point of complaining to a colleague beside her (who didn't engage with the complaints) before calling the restaurant staff and asking. The result was fine, I was allowed to eat breakfast, although there was no choice between western and Japanese style like my husband. The food was superb! But the attitude about the situation made me feel awful and could have been kinder.

Beautiful location, facilities, wonderful private onsen and little perks throughout. Fantastic restaurant staff. It is a really wonderful place to stay with fantastic food and fun little things to engage with. Close to Akanko by car. There are 3 private baths downstairs and you don't need to book them, just check if they're available. There's also a nice bath in the room.
