How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Verified reviewIt was opposite the Kyoto station next to Avanti shopping centre and very convenient for taxi, buses and shopping. The rooms were spacious enough and quiet. Bed was firm and comfortable.
There were no amenities in the room or free newspapers like APA hotel had. I had to make a call to the next hotel but could not phone from the room as my phone is from the UK.

Verified reviewGreat location, just across Kyoto train station and bus stop. The rooms are clean and great breakfast buffet selection. The dining area/restaurant decor is very artistic. All popular convenience stores are next to the hotel, Donki in same building which is open 24hrs!!! Lots of great restaurants and shopping area next to the hotel. Toji temple is walking distance and Kyoto tower.

Verified reviewLocation was great and easy access to tours and the kyoto station station. My fave stores were behind it... 7-11, Donki, and Lawson's (nearby). It adjoins to Kyoto Station so even in bad weather it's comfortable to go to Kyoto Station. Kyoto Station has many great shops, eats, and facilities. The tour buses stop in front of hotel so it's an ideal logistical location for visitors. The airport limousine is comfortable and user-friendly. Keihan Grande hotel has very helpful, professional, personable and english-speaking staff also. The variety of toiletries and daily hygiene products are available and included plus water also. The elevators are spacious and fast moving. The rooms are spacious, clean, and wifi service is good also. Great place to stay while in Kyoto... highly recommend. :)

Verified reviewThere were a lot of kinds of things for us to try at breakfast. My mother enjoyed the food very much and that made us happy.
It was a bit far from the Kyoto station for my mother to walk back and forth. I also didn't like that there was a smoking room on the second floor as I could smell walking by.

Verified reviewLocation is very convenient. It’s right next to Kyoto station. I picked the hotel because the bus tour I chose picks up just on the next building - Avanti. I didn’t have to wake up earlier and travel just to meet with the tour group. Breakfast has a good sampling of continental and Asian dishes. I didn’t know sleepwear is provided in Japanese hotels. I will pack even lighter next time.
Room space is limited but is expected.

So far from all attractions. Rooms were old and bathroom needs updating. Felt like I was in a camp ground. Tax was more than the actual cost of the hotel stay.

Verified reviewWe loved this hotel! It is very convenient to get here from the airport especially by bus. It is right next to Avanti shopping mall and across the street from Kyoto Station. The family suite was unexpectedly spacious and very comfortable. The staff was helpful to get us dinner reservations. We will definitely be back.

Verified reviewLocation was fantastic, basement link to the mall next door, train station is right across the street. Easy access to food, convenience store and restaurants. Mall next door provides some shopping, don don donki and retail outlets.
Door stopper of one of our connecting room is rusty and broken. The sealant for the bathtub is missing, there's a gap between the tub and the wall.
