Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesSmallish room, but it's Tokyo. Notice the incredible materials used in the rooms. Spot on. Lots of thought to the interior design to maximize space.
Everything. Service perfect. Inclusion of breakfast is a must. From those employees that assist with your taxi to the general manager, everyone is cordial, professional and competent. Truly excellent.

This beautiful boutique hotel exceeded all expectations. The rooms and bathrooms are tastefully appointed, blending comfort with upscale touches. The breakfast was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and a perfect start to each day. With multiple bars and restaurants on-site, there’s no shortage of great food and atmosphere. The neighborhood feels very safe, and the staff consistently delivered prompt, courteous service. A truly memorable stay!

Stayed at the Kimpton Hotel in Tokyo from January 3 to 10, and it was an exceptional experience from beginning to end. Essam at the front desk was warm and professional, making check-in easy and offering great support throughout the stay. Dennys and Kiko at the bar made each evening feel special, always friendly, attentive, and great company. Meg at concierge was a standout, incredibly helpful and thoughtful with her recommendations. Thanks to her, we discovered some fantastic local restaurants that really elevated the trip. I also loved the in-room massage service, it was incredibly relaxing and well worth it after long days exploring the city. And the daily social hour was a great touch, lovely way to unwind, meet other guests, and enjoy a complimentary drink in a relaxed, stylish setting. Beautiful hotel, outstanding staff, and thoughtful touches throughout. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

CanadaThe only tiny downside is that the highway can be a little loud for light sleepers, but honestly even then it wasn’t too bad, just being a pair of earplugs!
Great location, very nice modern interior, super clean and comfortable.

MalaysiaNone - everything was amazing.
The staff was attentive and had a great gesture by offering me a better room when I requested it. The facilities are modern, clean and spacious, especially considering the accommodations in Tokyo. The breakfast was amazing - the à la carte dishes were tasty! It's a very inclusive hotel. The location is close to Shinjuku station, about a 15-minute walk away.

AustraliaThe only criticism was that the a la carte restaurant was only offering a set menu the night we wished to eat in the hotel with a set starting time. It would have been good to have been informed upon check in that this was occurring to be able to plan accordingly.
The Kimpton is a very nice hotel in Tokyo in a reasonable location. Rooms are larger than average although still a bit tight with luggage. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Very nice products and loved that there was moisturiser! Breakfast was very enjoyable (Signature Eggs Benedict was delicious) and bar food on level 17 was delicious. Complimentary kick-start coffee in the morning was a nice touch as was the social hour. Service was friendly.

SwitzerlandThe fact that the room had no window you could open at least a little bit for freshing up the room. However, this is probably in most of the hotels. Also, the pillows were quite hard for our habits...
We enjoyed the location although was 10 minutes walking to Shinjuku Train Station. The staff at the reception were very welcomed and a big thank you to Eugene and Alessandro at the concierge for being so helpful with all information and tips.
