Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the owner was so lovely and helpful. The beds were comfortable enough, AC worked well, and room and toilets/showers were clean. The toilet/showers were on a different floor, and there was only one shower, which could be a problem if the guest house was busy. It was a nice bonus being able to explore the surrounding areas by bicycle, and the location was great - close to the castle.

Really friendly and kind owner who puts a lot of effort into making your stay great. There's a lot of art in the guesthouse to enjoy, and it's right in the centre of all the major things in Matsue. I will stay here again when I return!

It is far from the station (25min walk from Matsue Jr Station), but it is close to Matsue Castle. The curtains of the bed were see through, they didn't really block out any light.
Everything was clean and well maintained, there was a small kitchen available and the common room was very nice. The bed was comfortable.

This is a fairly basic guest house in a brilliant location very near the main tourist sites. It feels a bit rough round the edges, but it's comfortable and functional. Having bikes to borrow was a real bonus.

The rooms were located on the first floor, while toilets were on the ground floor, so if you needed to use a toilet at night, you had to go down quite a steep staircase (to be fair, I've got to say it was well lit up). Only two showers for the whole guesthouse: not an issue when travelling out of season, but I can imagine that when it gets busy in the summer, it could be problematic in the "rush" morning/evening hours.
The guesthouse is located right near the castle, so it's a great place to start your exploring from. Staff were super friendly and let us check in earlier than the policy allows. We were also sleeping alone in the room, while a group of other guests were sharing another room, so obviously the staff were nice enough to let us occupy two different rooms rather than putting us together in the same one (which would more than likely happen in Europe ;). We could ride local bikes for free! :)

I can't find out shortcoming with this guest house. Shimane prefecture is trying to promote Sport. Local team Susanoo Magic and Diosa Izumo are such a iconic representative teams based on Shimane. On now, Japanese football female League has been summer holiday season but second half will resume since coming September. In response into such interest, I'll take into account the plan to stay on here one day before the night of Nadeshiko League team Diosa Izumo.
Kindness from owner always attracts me. Every time when I try to English exam, I always choose to use this guest house though however I experienced bad luck on this time. I've accidentally lost my wallet somewhere unrecognizable place. I was self destructive nevertheless owner was about to get along with my difficulty. I had no choice but need to call it off my stay for finding out my wallet. But owner was about to calm my nerve with special coordination.

Very nice staff, situated right next to the castle of Matsue. A nice and relaxed atmosphere, I had a great stay.

Not a problem with guest house itself, but a heads-up: anticipate getting breakfast, because the nearest shops are not 24-hour konbinis! The nearby bakery makes lovely pastries but opens at 7:30 only four days a week. Expect to find dinner in another area of Matsue most nights as well.
A basic accommodation with great atmosphere when enough people are booked in. The owner is very friendly. Next to Matsue castle, and 20 minutes from Matsue station by bus, which puts it within reach of Izumo, Daisen, Sakaiminato, Iwami Ginzan...

WAY TOO BASIC for what they charge; only one shower for everyone, no towels ( for hire or otherwise), no lockers, no bathroom sinks ( unless you want to shave in the kitchen sink)electric plugs nailed to the bed right behind your head, etc. The owner seems to.spend all day sitting around listening to blues, doesn't even try to make small improvements to the place...

The main dislike for me is the availability of only ONE shower room for the entire place!! That is really inconvenient. Also the place offer only payment in cash which could be inconvenient
I liked how the place is constructed almost entirely from wood even the beds. Also I liked the availability of tableware and cups that could be used for breakfast.
