Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsExtremely kind personnel who helped us explore the area (we were even offered flashlights when we wanted to walk to a restaurant after dark). The beds are perfectly clean and comfortable and the facilities are very good. On the next morning the host supported us on how to further navigate the island.

NetherlandsTo have the stunning view, you have to walk up the hill quite a bit to reach the place. However uber is available in the town so that helped a lot. Since the house is renovated, it still has the Japanese house characteristics to be a bit noisy (thin walls), so when staying here I would recommend an early sleep early rise schedule and then it won’t bother you that much. A lot of local people were staying here when I was (for work reasons), so they had this schedule.
Had the most amazing time during this stay. The host couple was very sweet and gave me very useful tips for my stay. The location was stunning, overlooking the Osaka bay with amazing sunrises. The accomodation is an old cow & farmershouse which the owners renovated extremely beautifully. You still see a lot of old characteristics through the modern design. In the old cow house, the owner has a pottery atelier and shop, which was so cute and pretty!

JapanNothing in particular!
It was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed having hand made pizza bread exclusively made by guesthouse owners while enjoying the view from the counter seat. The guesthouse owners were also really friendly and they also recommended me a lot of great places to visit in Awajishima! I would like to bring my families back to stay at the room which can see sunrise from bed next time.

AustraliaHosts were very friendly and make a tasty breakfast every morning. They were very helpful for giving you directions and suggesting activities to do in the area. The hostel is located on a hill so is a bit of a walk to get back from town but the views of the bay make it worth it. Overall very pleasant stay.

United StatesYou'll need to pay for any amenities. The location is a bit hard to get to, even with a car, but the view makes up for it.
The staff were so kind and very helpful with planning my trip. I really enjoyed chatting with them. The building itself is very clean and has everything I needed.

New ZealandWe loved our stay at this property so much — we booked one night initially but ended up staying for two. The owners are incredibly kind and lovely to talk with, they spoke English well too. They also gave us some very helpful recommendations for Awaji Island. The room was very comfortable and the guest house had wonderful kitchen and bathroom facilities — it also helped the host made a superb morning coffee. Excellent views for sunrise and sunset. Highly recommend and look forward to our next stay.

United StatesThe entire stay was peaceful, delightful, and an overall joy. The owners, an older couple, were extremely friendly, nice, and helpful. Breakfast was yummy. Design is modern, the husband is a designer/ architect expert. I wish I knew Japanese, so I could have had more conversations with them. It is a bit of a trek to the nearest grocery store and restaurant, but the entire island is so nice and safe, it's definitely walkable.

New ZealandI was stupid and took the bus to the bus stop downhill, which meant I had to drag my heavy suitcase alone under the sun with the temperature over 30 degrees uphill to the hotel. So I'd say do some proper research on how to get to the hotel instead of trying to climb uphill like me, it's not too friendly for solo travellers without a car to access the hotel. It doesn't really count as something bad, but it also gets SUPER dark once the sun sets so make sure to take a torch if you're going out on a walk at night for whatever reason (I went out for dinner).
The owners were super kind, and tried to make sure I managed to have a comfortable trip as much as possible. They were pretty much the highlight of my stay. They recommended me places to go, which transport method to take for the most convenience. The hotel was overall very clean for me, because there wasn't a lot of guests I also had the dormitory to myself. The bed was also very comfortable. And you're able to see the sunrise in the morning, which was indeed very beautiful - just make sure to wear long pants and sleeves because there's a lot of mosquitoes (at least in the summer).
