Location is perfect for exploring Kyoto. The house is stunning and perfectly finished, a mix of traditional and modern. If you find it available for your stay you should book it without hesitation, you won't be disappointed.

Nothing, it was wonderful!

Natsuki is a gracious hostess. She met us when we arrived to explain things. She even made a personal itinerary of places to eat and sites to see. We ate at several of her suggestions and they were all wonderful. The location is perfect. About 15 minutes to nearest subway line. From kyoto station we did take a taxi for about 2000 yen (family of 4). The house is beautiful and comfortable. AC and laundry were so helpful given the heat wave happening. We would definitely stay here again if in kyoto.

It is a traditional Japanese house with modern touches that blend in so smoothly, you don’t compromise any of your modern day comfort while enjoying a unique experience. The kids, ages 9 and 10, loved the house so much, now we are planning to build a similar one in our hometown :) Natsuki, the property owner, was very gentle, helpful and friendly. Evet detail was carefully considered in the house. Location was also great, it is walking distance to the Gion area. I recommend here to everyone without hesitation.

It’s our fifth visit to Kyoto, and this house managed by the landlord gave us a very unique experience and the stay itself definitely a highlight of our trip compared to hotel stays. Location is unbeatable with closeness to major supermarkets and bus stations.

It's hard to find something we didn't like about the property. The only thing I would mention, is if you have trouble with firm beds, then the upstairs beds may be more firm than you are used too. The sleeping mats used on the first floor are a bit softer.

I would highly recommend this property. The location was great to stroll the Gion area and it was easy to catch an Uber for farther trips. We loved the traditional style of the house. The property was very clean and you could tell that attention was given to the decor and the products provided. The kitchen and washing machine were helpful. I really appreciated meeting the host and the sample itinerary provided was above and beyond. Thank you for making our stay in Kyoto even better than we imagined!

Everything about this stay was absolutely perfect, and it's clear the hosts pay attention to all the small details to make your stay extra special. The host put together a thoughtful recommended itinerary during our stay. We especially loved the details about how the space came to exist and its historical significance. By far the best accommodation I stayed at during my trip to Japan. Natsuki, the owner of the Ryokan, greeted me when I arrived to show me around the place and tell me the history of the house. Every detail of the newly restored home was meticulously crafted and thought through. I even received a custom itinerary for how to spend my time in the city. The home is walking distance to major tourist attractions while itself being on a quiet street. The bed was very comfortable, and there is a great work area if you're traveling as a digital nomad or in Kyoto for a workation. I've recommended this place to several friends and family members already, and will happily stay here again on my next trip to Tokyo.

Kyomachiya Suite was everything it promised. Beautiful, comfortable, well appointed. The location was excellent - so close to so many wonderful places to eat and see, with excellent proximity to the river trail (running) and the hills (hiking). The bed was comfortable and the shower was amazing. The place was very quiet as well. Our host was very communicative and provided us with suggestions of places to visit and eat. I would absolutely stay here again. We feel so very lucky to have found this place. Thank you!

It would have been nice to have more water in the fridge. Potentially a mattress topper on the upstairs beds could have made them more comfortable. It is perfect for two travelers, can become crowded with 4. Those are extremely minor suggestions, as our stay was phenomenal.

Location was excellent. Cultural experience was amazing. Hosts were extremely accommodating. This was an almost perfect stay.

Perfect location, very friendly owner, so welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable townhouse. It was large enough for 4 of us and even provided a washing machine and well equipped kitchen. We loved it here.

Honestly nothing, would highly recommend!

Natsuki was such a wonderful host, going above and beyond by preparing a suggested itinerary and local recommendations for us. The property itself is stunning, with a great location in the heart of Gion. Our stay was incredibly relaxing (you need to try the bath looking out over the rear garden) and made our trip to Kyoto even more special.

Beds very comfortable, washing machine is very helpful, nice rooms and good location. To improve: water is not hot enough for the tub, it is very safe to use but i will prefer if it can be hotter.
