How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBunny island is a great excursion and quite fun. The bunnies prefer to come out at night so plan around that. Also coming out at night are the wild boars, and the cycle of life is on full display. The hotel has a little gift shop that has some cute items for reasonable costs. The little snack stand does a great job. The buffet for main meals is quite satisfying! The family style rooms allow for our family of 5 to use one room!
Communal baths only! As a foreigner we missed this detail and we weren't quite prepared for that cultural experience. The hotel and resort style island look like they were once a wonderful escape, but time has not been friendly and very little has been done for upkeep and maintenance. Do not expect a 5 start hotel!

Verified review1. Rabbits are all over there! 2. Public bathtub is good. 3. Free activity.
1. This is the only hotel on the island, so food can be better, we have no other choice....... 2. The biulding and room are old, however the hotel fee is really expensive... 3. Rented bicycle need to be renew, especially kid bicycle, it is hard to ride, and we still need to paid for it.

Hotel is not the newest and needs a renovation.

Verified reviewLocation
I was not aware it was no options except for the floor mat and the onson for bathing . They need to include a western option of a bed and full bathroom with shower in a room Also, it is a bit outdated and really needs to be renovated. The property has potential for being a nice resort, but it is definitely outdated.

Verified reviewBreakfast was large and there was a lot of choices.
The building is old and has a musky smell. It takes some getting used to sleeping on the ground. The AC is difficult to keep controlled as the room temperature can fluctuate. The bunnies are generally out at dusk and dawn and into the evening and not so much during the day. The hike is strenuous. They ask you to take your trash with you.

Verified reviewJust as others have said, this was truly the highlight of my trip to Japan. I felt immersed in the culture in such a real and personal way. The bunnies made us feel like we were walking through a movie set, the peaceful scenery was incredibly inviting, and the buffet food exceeded all expectations—especially for a seafood lover like me! Staying in the traditional Japanese-style accommodations was such a unique experience. It came with a bit of a learning curve—figuring out how to set up the futons, care for the tatami floors, and wear the yukatas (which many locals wore to the buffet)—but it made everything feel that much more special. My only regret? Not staying longer for exploring the beauty of the island... shrines, trails, history. This place definitely deserves a return visit.
I don’t have anything negative to say, but a few tips might be helpful for future guests. While the facilities are a bit dated, the charm of the place lies in how authentically Japanese it feels—far from the typical tourist experience. The shuttle aligns with the ferry schedule, but if you miss it, the walk is actually quite enjoyable. I truly hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Verified reviewThe rabbits are well taken care of by locals and are super friendly. The front desk and dining staff were very nice.
The lobby area and dining area are fine. The hallways are dreadful, with stains and awful smells. It was honestly the worst maintained property I've seen and that includes budget hotels in the US. If we weren't trapped by the ferry we might have left. The outside of the resort, I can only describe as a resort from the 80s that has been left in its former state with no maintenance or activity: abandoned swimming pool, overgrown tennis courts, etc. If you have seen Lost, it felt like the Others camp was abandoned 30 years ago, and then suddenly they started renting rooms with no remodel. If you come here arrive as late as possible and leave as early as possible, the bunnies sleep during the day anyway. I have no photos of the property i don't want to remember. I was excited for this place.

Verified reviewEverything! This was a highlight of our trip to Japan. While the facility itself is a little older, it is clean and well kept. The staff were so kind and many spoke English if that is something you need. They had activities at night (in Japanese but with English handouts) which I appreciated and were so friendly and kind. The buffets for breakfast and dinner were really good and had lots of options. I’d absolutely stay here again!

Verified reviewThe rabbits are really cute and will crowd you and ask for food, I highly recommend sitting on the floor to be as close to them as possible. The breakfast and dinner in the hotel were amazing.
I wish the show they did at night had english support.

Run down, outdated furniture. Hallway and room had a musty, foul smell. Cobweb in corner of the room. Dirty windows made the view unattractive.

Verified reviewAmazing dinner and breakfast buffet. It’s a little dated but we all agreed was a really cool experience staying on the island overnight. Beautiful scenery. Amazing views from rooms
No private showers available so have to use the onsen. Didn’t bother me however something to consider.
