Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongFor the price, there could be more service. There's no transportation provided other than shuttles to the slopes. Even though the room had a kitchenette, there are no cooking utensils. You can request pots and pans and spatula etc, but it's like they purposefully discourage any cooking in the room. Again, for the price, we expect the room to be serviced everyday, not every other day.
The room is spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent.

Hong KongAt this price point, an onsen, gym, sauna or some sort would be the right touch...
Stayed for 8 nights. Breakfast was wholesome and delicious, definitely worth getting up for as last order was 9:30am. Lots of regional produce and delectable items. Room was very spacious, heated floors, bathtub, washing machine and a beautiful and generous balcony facing the slopes Staff were excellent, we had an incident that involved losing our car keys at the lot of one of the resorts...without the staff from the hotel helping us we would have not resolved it in the lucky manner we did.

MalaysiaBeing a Retreat hotel, it would be good to have some kind of wellness facilities in the hotel at least. Shuttle bus offered for the guests should run to all key slopes. We had to take taxi or change local bus to reach there that was troublesome.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. Spacious rooms with good view and setup. Staff to name - Laxmi. Izmi (if I got his name right) and a lovely Japanese female Staff who checked us out and Japanese staff with glasses.

United KingdomThe amenities offered (no gym, spa or onsen) by the hotel did not reflect the price paid per night.
Extremely good location for two days of skiing in Hakuba (the ski lockers and boot room were very convenient). Very comfortable and staff made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was also very good

United Arab EmiratesThe hotel beds are two separate Queen beds. We stayed in a 2 BR suite and at least one bed room should have a King bed.
The hotel lobby looks very clean and smells very fresh, like eucalyptus! The Teppanyaki course dinner was of excellent standard! The location is right in the heart of echoland with plenty restaurants and shops around (especially for the greater Hakuba area, as it’s pretty isolated and spread out). There is even a food truck courtyard across the road which is open until late! The view from the room was stunning! The on demand shuttle bus service to Haluba47 is very convenient!

United StatesAbsolutely nothing to dislike
Everything. This is a new hotel, and considering they have only been open for one month, they excelled in every possible way. The rooms are wonderfully spacious, with kitchenettes and even a washing machine. The hotel also has a free shuttle service to pick you up from the station, and get you to the slopes. For skiing, the hotel is perfect. The ski rental, Spicy Rentals, is next door, and the hotel has lockers to keep your equipment. But, perhaps, best of all, there is the restaurant. Incredible French style cooking with Japanese elements. The chef is very creative, and the Maitre D, Mr. Yoshida, was gracious and extremely professional. Their tasting menu is 7 to 8 courses, perfectly cooked and so creatively presented! My wife and I love this hotel!

AustraliaWish it had an onsen and the room should have kitchen equipment supplied if they have a stove top. They should also include some dish washing detergent as well as laundry wash. Also toilet with a sink should have hand wash and somewhere to wipe hands clean.

United Arab EmiratesOne room for improvement would be including body lotion inside the rooms, as winters in Japan can be very drying.
La Vigne is a beautiful, new hotel located in the vibrant echo land area of Hakuba. The staff were extremely kind and went out of their way to provide excellent service. The food at the hotel was very good & there are many nearby options if you feel like dining out.

AustraliaThey didn’t have room service even though it was advertised. The glassware in the room had lip stains on them. They don’t clean the room daily. The shuttle didn’t take us to all the mountains on Happo one which were the ones we were using with the children.

United StatesZero amenities (e.g., gym, pool, spa, bar, concierge, etc) which is something you’d expect at this price point. The shuttle doesn’t go beyond 2 ski areas, for which you have to make a reservation. Terrible communication by the hotel staff - I had the front desk arrange a taxi for me on multiple occasions, and the front desk failed to do that in a timely manner or call back when they stated they would within 5 minutes. The local shuttle service is TERRIBLE so one would expect the hotel shuttle to provide some coverage, which it did not. I realize the hotel is new, but basic guest services and communication are not up to par with the front desk. If I’m paying over $1000 a night, I expect a higher level of customer service, communication and amenities. The hotel is the equivalent of a high-end motel since it offers barely anything beyond beautiful design & decor.
It’s brand new and very beautiful.
