Japanese room seems dated and bathroom is very small.

I booked Western room for 2 friends and Japanese room for my family of 3. The western room is newer, bigger and nicer than Japanese room. It was good that both rooms have a lake view.

The restaurants close by 9pm and they have no room service after. Also we had to pay extra charges on top of what we paid at booking.com so that was a bit disappointing.

20 mins drive from the ski resort, it was ideal to stay here and access the resort easily. There is also a sports gymnasium with basketball and tennis courts, and a spa.

Breakfast and dinner menus were expensive at the top-floor restaurant, though it does have a great view of the lake. Check-in staff’s English was a bit poor and incomprehensible.

Aside from being located across some of the Biwako statues and landmarks, there isn't much to do around the area. You are more or less limited to what the Hotel has to offer (which it has a lot of). Unless you have a car or are renting a taxi, you are limited to having dinner at the Hotel (which isn't a bad thing, but expensive).

Being a luxury chain hotel, everything was of the Western-style. Staff was very accommodating - English friendly. There are a ton of amenities located on the property (tennis courts, gym, etc.) They have an in-hotel restaurant that was really classy, possibly the classiest meal I've had in Japan - nothing like the Marriott Hotels in America.

The only store nearby is the Pieri shopping centre, a 15-to-20-minute walk away. There is a sidewalk, but the light is sparse and dim in the evening, making it hard to navigate. Having the shuttle bus stop at the centre during various times of the day would be great.

Excellent hotel right by Lake Biwa. Booked last minute during off-season after a day hike along the lake. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus from JR Katata Station every half an hour. Gym is new and equipped enough for a quick workout, the sports facilities and public bath are located in an older wing but well-maintained. The Japanese style room with lake view was good. Meanwhile, the restaurant on the top floor with a near 360-degree view of Lake Biwa for breakfast was outstanding, together with a rich Japanese and Western buffet served by very attentive staff. Would definitely stay again!

The japanese style room is spacious and clean. Nice view to Biwako. A good place to start Biwa Lake Cycling Trip as a bike shop is next to the hotel. 15 min walk to shopping mall and supemarket

Toielt is spacious but bad design of shower area, can't understand why the shower would be installed inside the bathtub, with a narrow glass folding door on side.....

One of the worst Marriotts we stayed at. In desperate need of repairs and maintenance. Extremely dated facilities. Location was great for the views from the room but literally in the middle of nowhere. Indoor Gym snd sports centre was closed because it was 30 degrees rather than investing in an air conditioner, especially when it's the only thing to do at the resort beside indoor swimming pool. Cracks in walls, old paint and dust everywhere, outdoor grounds are dirty from what looks like wear and tear.

Amazing view from the room. But that is it.

Was just missing a few things in regards to details, some of the rooms were super lavish and lovely and it just felt like other places had severely cut corners budget wise, not something you would expect for a 4 star hotel. The toilet felt like it was from the 80s while the bathroom was so lovely and nice it just didnt make sense. Also how is it 2025 and we are still not offering a diffuser attachment for the hairdryer?? They had one for blowout but no diffuser! Do curly haired people not need to dry their hair?!? The hairdryer was so strong with no soft air option i left looking like a poofy mess…

The view from the room was fantastic, and it was super quiet to sleep in! Mattresses were good and so were pillows.

The staff was very friendly and supportive. When a family with loud children made disturbances next door. The front staff moved us to a quiet room. The breakfast was also excellent.

Entirely overpriced for what you get. Room is good but not great, view is nice but there's not a lot to do close, onsen is nice but doesn't shut off fully so I hope you're okay with noise all night long. Compared to everywhere else I stayed during my trip to Japan, this one I wish I could take back.
