Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThere was not one power outlet close to the bed. They provide two extension cords plugged in together but the also only reach one side of the bed with no bedside table. The walls are very thin so it was a bit noisy
Location is very good and they have a private bath, so even guest with tattoos can enjoy an onzen.

AustraliaThe food at breakfast, in the Bain Marie was cold. For non Japanese speaking people it was a little challenging. When checking in it would’ve been helpful to have instructions (for us in English)written on cards.
The location was great. Just a short walk to shops, ferry and Torri Gate. The room was quite large as compared to other motels. Lovely outlook!

JapanI didn't like that the blinds in the room could not be fully secured for privacy. You can still see through the window even with the blinds close. There's also no parking available.
The location is great! Life Max is also Japan's best hotel for traveling pet owners. My husky and I were well welcomed.

AustraliaThe buffet food was cold. Hard pillow.
Tucked at the edge of town, a short walk ~10 from the pier, was beautiful to walk through the village. A bit hilly to get to the hotel. Polite and helpful staff (google translate is a saver). Freely choosing yukata and hot spring experience. Japanese family room with futon, tea set and maple tree views added to relaxing experience.

United KingdomThe location was within walking distance of the ferry terminal. Miyajima is very lively during the day as it is full of tourists, but after six o’clock it is so quiet - restaurants are few and close early (we found one of the best restaurants we have eaten in on our trip to Japan) - we would walk the Main Street in the evening and only see the occasional person. The hotel is a Ryokan so we had to get used to sleeping on the floor on futons - nevertheless an interesting experience .

IrelandNo light switches beside the bed, which was inconvenient. Very few sockets for charging, especially beside the bed. Old looking carpets in the hallway. Poor WiFi in our area of the hotel which was annoying.
The location was great. Clean rooms and spacious. Nice little seated area. Near to everything in Miyajima. Rooms were spacious. The beds were comfy. Lots of lovely toiletries in the room. The Onsen was fab. The pool area was lovely, but the pool was not heated. Cool, relaxed vibe. Good value for money.

United StatesThe room needed better cleaning. I moved a bed, looking for an item I dropped, and found underwear and socks and a lot of dust, left prior to my stay.
This was the largest room I’ve stayed in Japan. The size, private onsen stone tub on the porch, and vending machines were great. The dinner site was also interesting with a great selection of food.

AustraliaThe place was starting to look a little bit tired and needing a bit of maintenance. Overall was still a great stay
There were so many facilities included and conveniences such as vending machines on our floor and a shop next to reception. Our room was very large compared to most hotel rooms in Japan and had beautiful views looking over towards the water, we could even see the Itsukushima Shrine Otorii Gate. Our room also had a private onsen on the balcony which was an awesome inclusion!

GuatemalaThe location of the hotel is good, but not good routes with Google Maps. The app sent me to take a big walk with the luggage. Other thing was a men on the front desk at the night that was a little too much rude.
The room was really cool. We had access to private onsen and took the hot bath. Same way on the room was some extra things like beer and water that we could enjoy with no cost.

NetherlandsThe property is old. The common areas are not very clean. The dining room smells terrible, the smell of cooked fish was around the entire hotel (i could smell it from the 3rd floor, the dining room is at the 6th). The hotel needs a renovation
We got the big room and it was amazing! Clean, with everything you need and spacious.

PolandHere To be honest, aside from the cool room and great location, the thing I would mostly remember from this stay is the person at the reception who looked unhappy or annoyed when we arrived with our child. Our daughter was talking and having fun in her stroller when we arrived, but the receptionist's face did not look welcoming at all. This was not just on our arrival, but each time we passed by the reception, even when my wife was going out or in with our baby. Overall, our stay was cool, and we had a great time. However, unfortunately, this is the thing that we will remember most vividly from this experience.
The room was very spacious. It had a "big" balcony with a table and chairs outside. The bathroom had hot water and a nice view. The room itself was also very nice, with a TV, Bluetooth speaker, and instant drip coffee ♥️. In general, there was nothing to complain about, except for the almost non-functioning air conditioning (very, very low fan) and a loud fan located in the ceiling, which was very loud. I couldn't find a way to turn down the ceiling fan.

United StatesThe staff didn't realize that the tatami setup was missing which is where the 3rd person sleep. The staff kinda scrambled to make it work but it seemed like there was some internal communication/confusion as to how many people were staying in my room which I communicated in advance to the hotel with my booking. The front desk manager resolved it quickly for me though.
Quiet and tucked away from the busy touristy street. Nice onzen tub on the balcony.

CanadaRoom was dirty and on site baths were closed for men by the time of our arrival so we never got to use them. Staff were non existent, I never saw a soul after checking in. On-site amenities were minimal compared to other 'resorts' I have been to.
Nothing in particular stands out at this hotel.
