Public shower. Didn't hate it but surprised to be showering with other people, but an experience!

The breakfast is 10/10 so much variety. Wonderful architecture and traditional Japanese design. Loved the staff, very sweet.

    Pillows were too firm.

Very convenient location for Happo One snow resort, cafes, restaurants and food trucks nearby. It has an onsen (shared) which was nice to relax in after snowboarding. The entrance has a door going straight to the drying room where you can dry and store your snow gear. Our room was very spacious. The hosts and staff were very nice and helpful, even gave us a lift to the train station to sort out our booking.

A small point. Althought there is bidet in common wc, will be better if there is the same in room wc. The hot water shower tap in common bath can be adjusted to flow longer.

Breakfast was very good homecooked food, safe & balanced diet. Location is excellent, in between Happo Bus Terminal & ski resort gondola station. Staff are very helpful, prompt response to request & enquiries about ski activities.

10pm curfew!!! Legit they try to enforce a 10pm curfew and when I say that actually kick the front doors after 10pm that you can’t bypass without “inconveniencing” them… woken up at 730 every morning with knocking on the door until we opened it to advise breakfast was ready ??!!?? Tried to also enforce having to book in a shower/bath in the mornings… lol

Very close and convenient to Hakuba Happo one bus terminal

The onsen bath was nice but a little small and the water pressure was a bit weak.

The breakfast and dinner were really good, a variety of dishes which filled all of us up! The cooking was excellent! The ryokan is located right in the heart of Echoland so close to many bars and restaurants but we didn't want to go out for dinner because the ryokan's was so good!

There was not much hair conditioner in the bathroom, that's the only thing I could possibly say was lacking. I loved staying here so much!

My stay at Furuya was so lovely. I would absolutely stay again next time I'm in Hakuba for the Japanese culture, hospitality, comfort and easy access to everything in the area. I stayed during February, snowboarding and working remotely while here. All the staff/family are really pleasant and the accomodation feels like a genuine ryokan. Every generation seems to be helping out there. I used google translate on my phone to ask a couple of questions to the older gentleman and that was quite a fun experience, with both of us speaking into the mic to communicate. I had a traditional Japanese room for one person, which had a beautiful view of the mountain. The room came with a Japanese green tea set each day. I found the room really comfortable and spacious, with plenty of space for my luggage in the wardrobe. The heater did a good job of warming up the room. A delicious set breakfast was served each morning, I think between 7:30am-8am, which was great because it got me started at the same time each morning. They have fresh hot spring baths which are amazing to soak in after being on the mountain. I wasn't used to the open shared style of the rooms, but I went while it was empty in the early evening and had the room to myself. The accomodation feels peaceful and like a home. There is a curfew, I think it's 10pm, which at first seemed odd to me, but wasn't a problem and I think helps keep it quiet at night. As I was remote working the wifi was really handy, it was fast and reliable. I sat on a couple of big cushions on the tatami mat floor as I had a Japanese room. It was surprisingly good to work from. Location wise, it's a short, smooth walk to the main bus terminal (to get to other resorts, Nagano for the Shinkansen or bus to Tokyo) and also an easy walk to the nearby chair lifts and main Happo-One gondola.

10:00 PM curfew in which doors are locked. Prevents going out anywhere at night much further than the immediate Happo region. There pillows were full of bean bag material. Very uncomfortable. You need to hand your room key in every time you leave and the front desk which isn’t always actively attended. Staff are relatively nosey about what you do and will go in your room when you’re not there.

Close to the slopes Onsen in the building

room was cold (old heater). 10pm lockout should be better communicated (didn't bother us but for others it could be an issue).

friendly family run business, good traditional food, parking, onsen. great location with access to ski resorts, transport, shops and restaurants.

    They need bigger slippers.

You walked in and you felt like you were being invited into someone's house. The staff was very accomodating and exceptionally kind. There was a clear language barrier but we muddled through it together. I needed to arrive very early and they were even ready with breakfast. The onsen on site was a nice place to unwind at the end of the day. And their miso soup was some of the best I had while in Japan. This place is about a 7 minute walk with ski boots from the gondola. All the restaurants in the area bookup early but no fear the food that they serve for dinner here is excellent. The room itself while spartan did have heat, ac, a TV and a sufficient amount of space for you to move around and get work done with their excellent internet. I would strongly recommend this place and book the meals too. They even drove me to the train station because a cab wouldn't arrive in time. If you are going by bus it's a 3 minute walk. The yakutas were comfy too.
