The owner went above and beyond to try ensure a great stay for myself and other guests. There was some things went wrong out of his control with his other hotel causing us to shift to a nearby one. Throughout this process though he was extremely helpful and accomodating. Room was pretty nice, onsen was lovely. Food was good too. All around great experience would recommend

Stayed for the skiing and was happy here. The only problem the location. It is the walk to the bus that takes you to the resorts. Its a 2km walk approx and in ski boots . Often we could get a lift into town or to the resorts but it usually cost 3000 Yen

    The Onsen was great

It is very close to the ski resort with a ski in ski out feel. Was great to ski all day and go into the onsen to relax. The host made it a amazing stay worthy of 6 stars

No sense of certainty nor security you can depart or arrive at your desired time even after prior notice and request given. Upon explaining to him why I am switching to live in Akakura Onsen instead due to the reality of the accommodation falling short of expectations set up by the listing, he became antagonistic and threatened to not provide me a lift there albeit he agreed to do so the night prior. Not only was he not willing to give a refund, he refused to accept that there are many areas lacking and insisted that I was being unreasonable and that he is not responsible for the listing description, refusing to comment on who is writing the advertisements. Minimarket not onsite as advertised but grocery store 30 minute drive away. "Minimarket" is basically just cup noodles at the front desk. No wake-up service as advertised, nor room service. It is not stated as additional charge on the website but host expects all items listed to be of additional charge. "Towels" advertised but only one small towel barely covering the torso provided. No paper towels to wipe hands anywhere, nor soap provided on 2/F. Currency exchange described in listing is non-existent, host says he's not a bank and no atm nearby. Not a 7-11 nor convenient store nearby, and even if there was, the host didn't bother explaining and blames you for not asking. No onboarding/explanation of where things are, you have to explore and search for all the rooms yourself. You need to help yourself with stuff from the kitchen if you need. This should be advertised as a self service instead of a hotel. Desperately needs a renovation, you can hear everything from the other rooms and quality of sleep is terrible. The host essentially bought said lodge recently to run his first season so previous ratings or reviews online are superseded.

No facilities or heating outside your room. This is more backpacker than hotel and should be priced accordingly

Harri means well, the location backs onto the ski field. Onsen is hot

Nothing in particular. Overall, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Sekiyama Onsen is a hot spring with a long history, and Yoshinoya Onsen Ryokan has been in operation for over 100 years. It embodies a truly traditional Japanese style—absolutely amazing! The onsen itself is fantastic. Moreover, the open-air onsens, Kawara no Yu and Koganeyu, located 2-3 kilometers from Yoshinoya Onsen Ryokan, were amazing hidden gems. They offered a fantastic experience and created wonderful memories for our family. The next-generation owner was incredibly kind. Thanks for guiding us to these amazing places—this wonderful memory will remain forever in our family’s hearts. Sekiyama Onsen Ski Resort is famous for its powder snow, and I look forward to skiing there again in January.
