Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo breakfast/dinner served. Toilets and sinks are not located your room and are shared between guests. Private onsen makes up for it.
Location was great. Located right next to Lake Yamanakako. Breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji. Service was great. Very accommodating. Plus you can also reserve your own private onsen.

BelgiumSome corners of the room were quite dusty (aspecially behind the bed).
Very big room with traditional aesthetics and a balcony (I didn't get ot see it, but if you are lucky you should get a view of Mount Fuji). I wanted to experience a ryokan but not sleep on the ground and the room I chose had a bed as well as the option to sleep the traditional way. You only have a sink and toilet in the room, but get a private access to a very nice onsen once in the evening and once in the morning. The common areas are also very nice.

United KingdomFortunately there were only two of us because our Standard Family Room would have been really tight on space with anyone else. The double bed was only big enough for one person so the other person used a futon which was not particularly comfortable. Each room has a toilet but no shower or bath so everyone has to book a 40min slot to use one of the two available onsens either to shower or use the onsen spa bath. This requires a certain amount of forward planning each day which is a bit of a pain.
Stunning views of Mount Fuji directly out of the bedroom window. Friendly helpful staff and a lovely quiet , peaceful location. We found the onsen to be really hot, much hotter than other hotels we have stayed in. The hotel does not provide meals but there is a wonderful bakery/cafe 300m away to the south for morning breakfasts on a terrace. Overall, the hotel grew on us the longer we stayed.

AustraliaThe double bed in our room was the smallest and hardest bed I’ve ever slept on , the private onsen was a nice feature but be careful to assume that all rooms have showers as they are apart of using the private onsen.
The view of Mount Fuji from our room was brilliant.

PolandShared toilet for a couple of rooms. No showers except for the ones in the onsen which means you need to time your sightseeing to go back in time. Not even a washbasin in the room to clean your cups in. Basement with table tennis and other things - cold, with moldy smell.
We had a room with great Mt. Fuji view - of course when it wasn't cloudy. Good contact with the staff. Quite close to Yamanakako lake - 10 minutes walk Bike rental service - cheap, bikes well prepared. Tennis table and billards table available for free. Clean and large onsen for private use.

CanadaBeautiful view of Mount Fuji from our bedroom. Very quiet and peaceful location. Loved the comfortable beds! The rooms were gorgeous and the robes they gave us made us feel special. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Loved the onsen! Convenient location in short five minute walking distance to public transportation, the lake, stores and restaurants.

FranceGood location to enjoy yamanaka Lake. The bedroom was comfy, and the view facing the mount fuji was amazing. As it is an old house, the walls are not soundproof, so you must be careful not to make too much noise. You could even hear people next door snoring. Despite that, it's a good place to stay, and the onsen is really pleasant 😊 They don't provide food, so I recommend checking around to some delicious shop that provide good breakfast not far from the hotel ✨️

SpainOnly downfall would say not having shower in the room, that might be a bit inconvenient, but the lady explained us how to book ourselves the onsen, and it went great. Great japanese experience to live, so we would repeat for sure!
Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was awesome: views to the Mount Fuji, and we even saw some wild deers at night. What a view! It was a typical japanese room, very big and comfortable for the three of us (we were traveling two adults and a 2 year old baby).

MalaysiaLove the Ryokan experience. Our room has a balcony that has Mt Fuji view (depending on weather). The hotel backyard has a Fuji view as well. Room only comes with toilet n basin. For shower every guest has to book the 30 mins slot to use their onsen room with shower. They have 2 private onsen room. The room is comfortable n spacious n the bed was really comfortable. Optional futons are provided for those who wish to sleep on the floor. Staffs were very helpful with our luggages as our room was on 1st floor. Overall very good experience for us. Thanks to the staff for hosting us.

ThailandThere is no elevator in this property, And we got a room on the second floor, so we have to carry our big luggage by ourselves. However, the staffs are nice, they helped us carry some luggages. There is no bathroom in the room. We have to use the private onsen for taking a shower and we have to reserve the time since there is only one private onsen. If you come during low season, that's ok. But we came during NY holiday, so lots of people were staying here.
The location is good, you can see the Mt. Fuji view from your bedroom. It's also near Yamanaka lake which you can take a photo with Mt. Fuji .

SingaporeGot a room with a shared bathroom, unfortunately, the walls to the corridor are paper thin and you can hear footsteps throughout the day and night of people walking to the bathroom door. It's also a fair bit away from the main road and hard to find so it's better if you have a car if its raining
Ryokan about 10 minutes walk away from the lake, they have private onsens where you can book. Owner/Staff were very helpful and nice. Its cheaper than options directly facing the lake or Mt Fuji
