Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Hong KongSome of the facilities feel a bit aging, like the swimming pool or the stairs.
It was our first night in Japan for this trip, we were impressed as the hotel is very family oriented : buffet dinner and breakfast, game room, onsen, swimming-pool, common area with free drinks before dinner... We loved the Japanese style room and wearing the yukatas around the hotel.

AustraliaThe onsen/washroom was not tattoo friendly and restaurants were not easy to get to. Overall happy.
The resort is very pretty and well maintained.

United StatesIt would have been nice to experience the onsen. I have too many tattoos to cover, so I was not allowed to enter. Maybe if there were times throughout the day that tattoos were allowed, this would be the perfect hotel.
The room was clean and the layout was spacious. Plenty of room for a family of 4.

South KoreaThe beds, futons, and pillows were uncomfortable. This specific hotel is a bit dated and should prioritizing in renovating rooms. Pricy!
The staff were great! Loved the free night cap from 9 to 11pm. Free snacks & and a variety of alcoholic drinks. Additionally, the hotel had a lot of recreational areas.

SingaporeThe property is catered to family with children so as a couple was not the best choice. The most disappointing part was that the property did not specified that the Onsen is not available to people with tattoos so we miss on that part of the experience. For those going if your plan is to head to mount Zao the property is a bit far and not very convenient. The rooms are big, but the central heating is hard to regulate so the room was way too hot and we had a hard time sleeping. Expect long cues if you check in at 3 pm like we did For non Japanese guest I will not recommend it.
The room is quite spacious and the staff is helpful The hotel is easy to find and has good parking

JapanHotel is a bit old, you can feel it in many aspects. however it is not annoying, it is kept quite clean. There can be more activities for kids, and existing game areas need some renovation/update maybe.
I have been to many hotels in Japan, but this was a first time (almost) all inclusive plan. Interestingly, we were not aware of it when we booked. Great value for the money. Buffet breakfast and dinner was fantastic. Having unlimited alcoholic drinks was a great surprise. During the afternoon / late night lounge times additional snacks snacks / drinks provided.

JapanAlthough the hotel room was spacious, I thought it looked quite outdated for Mercure. We had 4 people in the room and the extra beds weren't very comfortable. The walls are also quite thin so you can sort of hear the people from next door (it wasn't loud; more like muffled sounds). Aside from that, it appears that there was a collection of dust on the lockers in the onsen, so I guess it wasn't cleaned properly.
The buffet had a very wide selection of food and it certainly exceeded my expectations. There was also free drinks at the longue for guests and it's the first time I've come across a hotel that does that! The onsen was also very spacious and there are 4 baths in total (2 indoors and 2 outdoors) and a sauna too!

AustraliaI arrived at about 5:30 PM and as there was only a single tea bag in my room I went down to reception to ask where to get some coffee, instant or a cup of, I didn’t mind, was told the way to get a cut of coffee was to pay for the full buffet dinner that included coffee, same answer in the morning for the breakfast buffet, I thought that was poor but not as poor as the half full trash bin from the previous occupants, makes me wonder what else they didn’t change in the room

United StatesBest ryokan I've had the fortune of staying in. The perfect mix of modern and traditional. Gorgeous onsens both inside and out. Comfy beds and futons. Kind, attentive, and very informative staff. Great facilities. So many ways to enjoy a night in. The night cap was such a lovely touch. The breakfast... WOW. I've never seen such a large, variable, and delicious selection. My only regret is not staying longer.

ThailandDespite the nice public areas, the rooms itself left a lot to be desired. First of all, one person in my group had a terrible night as the carpet in the room were not cleaned property, and she had discomfort breathing all night. I also felt that the rooms were not so clean, particularly the carpet, and the curtains was very inadequate in blocking the light coming through. I was woken up at 04:40am as the light coming through the window was really bright (please see my attached photo). Secondly, I felt that the variety of the food on offered was generous, but the quality was not so. Lastly, the staffs I met couldn't communicate adequately in English.
Great public facilities: the onsen, the rest area with free snacks, and the variety of food on offered at breakfast.

AustraliaWhat a beautiful hotel! As travellers from Australia, the staff were so accommodating with the language barrier, and were so warm and welcoming. The buffet was absolutely incredible, facilities perfect, games room for our 6 year old, even a shop! The candy station was also a big hit! Definitely would reccomend!
