Brilliant location and very convenient. Super helpful staff and a very spacious room. We stayed here last year also and are looking forward to stay at the Nagano Metropolitan next year also.

It was not clear for us how often they changed sheets and towels; most hotels ask the guests to put the towels on the bathroom floor for example; however only on the 3rd day we found out that we had to put a note on the bed if we did NOT want the sheets changed… we didn’t know about that earlier and we felt sorry that apparently they have changed our sheets everyday! It was not their fault, it was our mistake as foreigners; perhaps the communication could be a bit more clear so others would not do that and the hotel could save more time and water when changing linens and towels. Also we found a bit inconvenient they only have one washing/drier machine for the guests and every wash/dry cycle lasted 2 hours - so we could not use it at all.

The front desk staff was very polite and friendly; very comfortable room for 3 people and extremely well located; we would stay there again if we come back to Nagano

The staff were very nice and welcoming. Room stayed in was large and clean (Superior Twin Room). The beds were very comfortable. Hotel is right next to Nagano Station and Midori shopping mall with Don Quijote across the pedestrian bridge. It is also about 30 min walk to Zenkōji temple with many shops along the way which is very convenient. Overall a very nice hotel.

The decor is dated but it didn’t affect level of service or the staff. We also tried to drop in to the roof top bar but it was full. They didn’t take same day reservations so be sure you book a day ahead if you’d like to go. Otherwise it was a very nice stay.

The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Their English was quite good.

The location is perfect --- the hotel is directly connected to the JR Station from the second floor, something not uncommon in Japan but something rare in other countries

Signs directed us for a short two minute walk straight out of Nagano station. Very spacious, clean and very comfortable room. Pillows and bed were good. Front reception staff were very friendly and efficient on both check in and check out. Both spoke very good English. Taxis at the front door and easy walk to shopping and eateries. Although restaurants in the building we didn’t eat there on this one night stay.

No Onsen or sauna but after 2 weeks of it, was worth having a few days break.

The breakfasts were amazing, the best of the holiday. The hotel has a strong 70s vibe that added to the appeal, overall a great experience.

This was an amazing stay at this hotel. Beautifully furnished and just a perfect location for a visit to Nagano. The trains and buses just a short walk from the property. Breakfast was excellent and the staff all very kind and attentive.

What I really loved about my stay at the Metropolitan Hotel in Nagano is the unbeatable location — it’s directly connected to the train station, which made traveling incredibly convenient. The hotel itself has a distinct charm, with a subtle 1980s aesthetic that I found nostalgic and stylish in a tasteful way. The main hall is impressively spacious and beautifully decorated, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in. I stayed in one of the simpler rooms, but it was comfortable, clean, and had everything I needed. Despite the modest category, the experience was relaxing and pleasant throughout. One highlight was definitely the sky bar — the panoramic view over the city was stunning, especially at night, and they served excellent whiskey. A perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring.
