After the terrible experience we had at the previous hotel we had stayed I was honestly very hesitant about booking again. We needed a nine-night stay, but most hotels in the area were either fully booked or extremely overpriced. I had never stayed in an “aparthotel” before (an apartment hotel with a front desk that isn’t staffed 24/7), so I was nervous about it not being a “real” hotel. But what an amazing surprise this place turned out to be. It’s gorgeous. Their motto is that it should feel like a second home away from home in Japan — and it truly does. The staff is wonderful, the kids’ activities are great, and the specialty coffee they serve is perfect. Our apartment was spotless, beautifully furnished, and fully equipped. We stayed in a two-bedroom with two full bathrooms, and it had absolutely everything we needed. This place completely changed my mind about aparthotels. I highly, highly, highly recommend it — especially for families traveling to Tokyo. It’s comfortable, clean, affordable, and truly feels like a home away from home.

Air conditioning, while cooling well (we were in the apartment in August during high heat) turned on and off incessantly during the night, waking us up.

The neighbors of the floor above us had clearly uneducated children, running very early in the morning and very late at night. However, the hotel is very well sound proofed and cannot be blame for bad parents.

Mimaru is wonderful hotel. It was very convenient for us to have 2 rooms and a lot of space, makes you feel at home. Hotel is very well located with top notch personnel and service.

Loved everything!

Absolutely loved the size of the room, it was perfect for our family of 5, with spacious bunk beds for the kids and 2 bathrooms/showers, and a great washing machine for laundry. The staff are kind and very helpful. There were some arts and crafts activities in the lobby area for the kids to enjoy, and a coffee shop as well. Walking distance to the metro stop and direct train line to Haneda airport which was convenient.

It’s clean and cozy, I really wanted to love it but the hotel gave us a room on the 3rd floor, the windows are tiny and there’s no sunlight it felt like a dark room, therefore the humidity was a bit intolerable…and there’s an unpleasant odour in the bathroom…

If one of the top things you look for in a hotel is quiet you will love this hotel. I couldn't believe how quiet it was in the middle of Tokyo. There is a great breakfast place for an authentic Japanese breakfast just a few minutes walk away (maybe 10 minutes), Shinpachi Shokudo Shinjuku, really good food and inexpensive, plus seating for groups upstairs. We loved having the two separate rooms plus the living area and two bathrooms. It was nice to have space to spread out. You do have to take a subway to most attractions (it's located in the business district), but it was in-between a few major attractions. If you like to run there is a trail by the river just half a mile away. Plus there is an AMAZING bakery, Teal, within walking distance (10-15 minute walk). It was super clean and the staff here was the most friendly and helpful out of all our stays in Japan. Plus there are even activities to do at the hotel. It's right next to a convenience store and close to a grocery store.

The table/lounge being combined meant relaxing in the space was hard - as a family its nice to be able to get away from navigating the city and just have a quiet moment.

Lots to do in the area and easy to navigate around. There was a great park in walking distance that had plenty of space for running around in for kids. My daughter also loved the activities that were available at reception for kids to do whilst the adults did boring things like order a taxi.

Hotel was located in a quiet area which was a nice change for us. This was also our favorite hotel out of the 4 we stayed at during our 12 day trip to Japan. They provided nice touches that made the place feel homey (skincare products, pajamas, arts and crafts, room decor etc). The kitchen area was nicely stocked which was super helpful for us with a baby.
