Loved the ryokan experience. Staff were great bringing our dinner to the room. And then changing it round to make the bed. View was stunning

    The room, the view

The food. I thought I wouldn't be able to go wrong with hotel food in a place like this in Japan but unfortunately it wasn't as fresh as I was expecting.. It seemed to be your typical hotel quality food the quality of which you would expect in the USA or in Europe, at an average quality hotel.. Although the dishes were clearly authentic, the ingredients looked like they had been frozen and thawed, the feeling that this was your typical hotel you might expect for a hotel that's mostly catering to awesterner who didn't know any better The breakfast seemed better than the actual dinners, but still mediocre, and even a little off putting.

Enjoyed all of it. The location away from the main strip, the attentiveness of staff, the spacious rooms, the meals and other amenities. It was a wonderful stay for our whole family.

Nothing. It was a perfect spot for a one-night stay in Miyajima Island.

This was a beautiful place to stay to experience a traditional ryokan.

The futon beds lacked a bit of padding for our old bones!

This hotel is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. From pick up at the ferry station, passing by check-in, amenities, meals, installations... the hotel is exceptional, located in a marvelous location and still the best part of it is its employees, who go above and beyond to make sure that you'll always remember your stay here.

Nothing, the stay was truly perfect.

Loved how peaceful it was. Right on the sea, and they had flip flops, and mats to use for this. It’s a traditional room, and was very comfortable. The dinner was lovely and allowed us to try foods we wouldn’t have access to. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They picked us up from the ferry port, and took us back later at night so we could see the shrine lit up. It was a very relaxing place to be and I’d recommend staying here

As a heads up: It’s slightly away from the main area,(we wanted this) but others might want to be closer.

This is a traditional ryokan with all the associated rituals associated with that. Our food was served in the room, we sat on the floor and the bed was not made until after that. View from the room was amazing. Fabulous shuttle service.

Didn’t love the food, at dinner or breakfast. Was perfectly edible but I just found it a little different from other experiences and textures and flavours we’d had in Japan.

    Lovely room with sea view

The air conditioning kept stopping after a few hours even through the night, which given the price of the room I felt should not have happened. The meal served in the room was rather average compared to other places that we stayed in Japan but was nice.

Everything: it was the perfect stay. - the shuttle from the port - the beach in front of the hotel with everything you need: towels, showers… shoes - the Onsens - the welcome and special kindness of the staff - the special dinner with high quality Japanese food

We really loved this facility and the staff. Upon landing on Miyajima, we found our little shuttle and they took us directly the hotel where we were warmly greeted by the staff. They had our slippers ready for us and helped us get settled in and prepared for the room. When we got up to the floor, I noticed right away something that took me back to when I grew up in Japan. The smell of tatami mats. For someone who's not used to it or knows how to identify it, it can smell very earthy ... and I've noticed some in the reviews it said moldy. And because most, if not all the rooms, have tatami mats the first impression can be startling - I noticed it with my husband and daughter who've never experienced that. The room itself was lovely, and it took me right back to 30-years ago when I had my traditional Japanese-style room. The dinners and breakfast were incredible. When I booked, I notified them that I needed accommodation for myself and my daughter. They were on the spot with responses and made exceptions for me without issue because I can't eat seafood or shellfish, and substituted where possible and then for my daughter, they gave her so many options to eat from and she really loved that. They even intercepted me when I nearly went for a seafood-based broth! Incredible service and unbelievable hosts, in a wonderfully tucked away space. Perfect for relaxation. The onsen is a wonderful little public (for the hotel guests) bath space as well and never once did we see anyone else using it while we were. It is tattoo-friendly, or was while we were there, but confirm with the hotel before booking.

We stayed for two nights, so while we went into town during the second day, we thought we would have the leisure to come back and forth to rest. Since we couldn't get a shuttle, we ended up walking back to the hotel and were surprised that they were essentially closed down to setup for room reset and the next set of guests. So, if you stay more than one night (which we HIGHLY recommend), just plan your day out to be fully between breakfast and the next check-in time. Our room also didn't have windows that fully opened, so my husband sat on one side and I on the other. Not as easy to stay close to one another. My only other comment on the food is that when you look for substitutions, be prepared for non-Western substitutions - horsemeat sashimi was one of my alternatives and we all were a bit taken aback (but tried it and chalked it up to the experience!)!

That japanese family room with a seaside view was great. Regarding the location, is not the best, nevertheless, they provided shuttles to pick up our luggage, and then came for us after the main village visit, they also took us to the other beach upon our request, free of charge, with all the amenities needed for an afternoon on the beach.

    Nothing.
