Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkIt’s a little remote from the ferry terminal, but also makes it much calmer than the center of the city
The place was lovely, located outside of the busy areas of the island. The owner of the inn was absolutely lovely, and served us the most wonderful traditional breakfast.

United StatesThat my stay was too short :(
The hotel is a short walk from the ferry, but well worth it. Our room was spotless, and the beds were very comfortable. I chose the Japanese breakfast while my husband had the Western option, both were delicious and beautifully presented. Honestly, the breakfasts alone felt like they were worth the cost of the entire stay. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to others!

United StatesA bit of a walk from the ferry but it let us see more of the island so maybe not really a bad thing.
The staff was very helpful, and the breakfast and dinner were delicious with so many different dishes. More than enough food. Comfortable futons.

New ZealandMake sure you know where this property is when you arrive as it’s not on the map of accommodation at the terminal building: it’s about 5 mins walk beyond the red Tori gate, just near the aquarium. Check in is 4pm, quite late! Asked for earlier check in but was declined.
Beautiful ryokan-style guesthouse, 15 mins walk from the ferry terminal so slightly out of the hustle and bustle of the tourist area near the terminal. Incredible traditional Japanese breakfast and lovely shared bathroom with huge bath tub! Very close to beautiful white-sand beach!

United StatesIt was a bit far from the ferry station (~20 minute walk), but that was also a plus because there were less crowds nearby.
Mizuhasou was great. Beautiful location and accommodation. The baths were really nice, and breakfast was great and a fun experience.

United KingdomBed next to shoji window with street light. No dinner served and limited options in town after 6, but the breakfast made up for it.
Really good breakfast and comfy, clean room. Both the baths and showers were available in the morning.

United StatesBeing right by the aquarium, it is easy to find, but the location is quite far from the ferry dock. We planned on taking the taxi, but arrived during their lunch break. Walking through the crowded streets is no fun, if you arrive mid-day. We should have just found a place to rest and have a treat till they came back. Leaving by taxi was not only better than walking, but crazy fun to watch them negotiate the narrow streets!
The staff was amazing! The food was amazing! We didn't do dinner, but really enjoyed breakfast. The service was wonderful! They stored our luggage till check in and not only ordered a taxi for us, but brought us tea while we waited. The private baths were very nice. The room was comfortable and very clean. Excellent Japanese style hotel!

AustraliaA very relaxing and personal stay for our family - away from the crowds on the island but still an easy walk. Our evening meal and breakfast were amongst the most authentic meals we had while we were away and so much food! The children loved seeing the deers on the island and we enjoyed a ride up Mt Misen on the nearby ropeway.

SpainWe stayed one night at this lovely ryokan in Miyajima, and it was an excellent choice. It's at about a 10-minute walking distance from the town and the ferry station, with a beautiful surroundings and far from the noisy streets. The place is very well kept and clean, the rooms were spacious, with very comfortable tatami mattresses, and have a private sink and toilet. The showers are shared. Staff were very pleasant, and they prepared us an excellent japanese style breakfast, the best we had during our 15-day stay in Japan! If I ever visit again beautiful Miyajima, I would repeat my stay at Mizuhaso for sure.

CanadaIt's a bit far from the ferry terminal - that's the only downside.
Everything was fantastic - the rooms came with Yukatas, pajamas, vests, tea, water, a towel bag and one face wash set. The breakfast in the morning was unbelievable - that alone made the price well worth it, but add in the baths and lovely rooms & decor - just an unbelievable stay.

AustraliaRooms are not he small side and futons were quite hard.
The private almost cauldron like baths were amazing after a day of walking! The rooms were small but well equipped. First time with futons so it took a bit of getting used to. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful as I wanted to sneak out early the next morning to take photos. Place is at the other end of strip once you get off the ferry but you get to wander through the shopping street and past the shrine on your way to the hotel. We were only staying one night so we sent our baggage on and only bought a day pack. Would recommend doing this so you;re not dragging your suitcases all the way from the ferry terminal.

GermanyOur stay at Mizuhasou was amazing! The staff was so welcoming and nice! It‘s a 20min walk further down the island when getting off the pier, but the location is so much quiter there. Nevertheless it’s really close to the Torii gate and the Shrine. We got there an hour before check-in so we were given the opportunity to leave our bags behind. When we came back after a stroll our luggage was in our room already. We had a traditional Japanese-style room with really comfortable Futon beds. The bathrooms were next door with those traditional tubs to soak in. And the food! Wow! Just wow. We never had a ryokan-style dinner and breakfast but they gave us plenty. All fresh, handmade and local dishes. And really nice to look at. It‘s definitely worth it! Higher recommended!
