Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumHostel is located at a short walk from Gekkouji station, there is a grocery store and Daiso nearby, vending machine also right outside the hostel. Staff was extremely nice and welcoming, also very knowledgeable about Mt. Fuji if you plan on climbing it, they helped us with the different busses we had to take and have multiple timetables available. They have 2 dorm rooms that fit 10 people and 2 private rooms. During our stay the dorms had about 5 people at most. There is a communal fridge/toaster oven/ microwave/ water cooker available to use. Be sure to label your food when you put it in the fridge. There are also lockers that you can rent that fit a large backpack and then some! Facilities were all very clean and well maintained, they also offer a laundry service for ¥500 (washing and drying). Everything is also really well labeled and had an explanation in multiple languages!

United KingdomMt. Fuji Hostel Michael’s is a family-run hostel that is spotless and really cozy. The owners speak perfect English, so communication was easy. They were very helpful with signposting to relevant locations and giving tips for climbing Mt. Fuji. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone.

GermanyThe hostel is not soundproof at all. There are multiple private rooms but we unluckily got the one between the dorms and the bathrooms and we heard every footstep and discussion in the lobby or the room next to us. Furthermore, quiet time only after 12pm is just too late, especially when it is a town where waking up early for hikes etc is needed. It seems that the dorms are the better option. Moreover, you get a lot of messages before arriving, a bit too excessive.
Good location, helpful staff, clean bathroom.

PolandToo many beds in one room, hard to get to yours. Quite price for what it is.
Clean, and right in the middle of the town. Good spot when visiting Fuji area.

GermanyIncredibly moody, unfriendly owner. He was rude and condescending to both his staff and guests (not to their faces, of course). A little tip: if you don't want people staying in the hostel ten minutes before checkout, then change the checkout to 10. But I don't want to be annoyed that there are still a few people here. This review primarily goes to the staff, so to all guests: if you see the owner, just put on some earplugs, then you'll have peace and quiet. And be especially nice to the staff; the owner isn't. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you consider that, as a non-Japanese, he's just a guest at the end of the day as well.
Great location with a great view, very clean, and extremely friendly staff. The beds were comfortable, and the hostel was perfect for a short stay due to its location and reasonable price.

SlovakiaGreat Hostel with really cozy atmosphere. Each bunk bed has a curtain and I think everyone is very polite so You don’t even feel like 10 people are sharing the room. Even coffee and tea is for free. The only thing I would change is to sync check-out time (11am) with staff arrival (around 10am). Better plan to leave before 10.

HungaryWhen I was trawelling it was the only low cost option in the town and it was perfect. They also offer free coffee and tea and Mt. Fuji is visible from the windows! I wanted to stay one more night, but it was fully booked, so I decided to go to Fujinomiya, which I can also recommend.

United KingdomThe building is tiny which means that the dorm room was very cramped for how many beds were fit into it. This meant there was also no room to really move things in and out of your suitcase or backpack. The common area was ok to eat but if you're staying much longer there's no room to socialize or relax beyond your bed. The sheets were also not very clean at all and could do with updating as they were very worn. It's a good place to stay one night on a budget but not great otherwise.
For the price the location is amazing. There's even a window just outside the dorms where you can see a view of Mt Fuji. The bathrooms were kept clean and the staff were all lovely and seemed helpful if you had any issues. It was only a few minutes walk from the station that takes you to all the Mount Fuji sights and a 20 minute walk from the Arakurayama Sengen Park viewpoint.

GermanyOnly thing that would be negative is that my wifes hairblower didnt work in the blower. Maybe it was about the voltage difference.
What my wife and i liked about the Hostel, was, that its close to a train station (5 min walk), lots of small restaurant, cafes and small shops (like for tea or for clothing) are nearby, even a 7/11 is very close (also around 5 min walk) Our stay in the Hostel was very cozy, we had booked a room with tatami mats and futon bed for ourselves. It was very spacious as we were able to also leave our big luggage (2 suitcases each 20kg) in our room. The Owner of the Hostel has a big knowledge about the area, such as where to go, what to do, and many other recomendations. We will definetly come back

JapanA very comfortable hostel in a great, central location - a one-minute walk from the iconic Fuji-san street view. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They asked every day if everything was OK and if I had any questions. The bunk bed was the best I've ever had in Japan - strong curtains that went all the way round, and had press studs to close the curtains. The kitchen and showers were well equipped. Free tea and coffee. Lots of information about what to do and transport links.

BrazilI thought I had booked for a price but in the end, it was different. Of course I should've checked earlier, but still a bit disappointing.
I loved the environment, there were even some games available. Great bathroom area and good washing machines, and even free coffee and tea. There is a view for mount Fuji, though a bit covered by other buildings, is excellent and made me happy when I opened the curtains in the morning.
