This morning, when I arrived at the Hostel, I checked the room and each bed (top and bottom), I inspected the covers and did not find an insect or a bed bug, but instead saw a few food crumbs and tiny wood chip-looking specs on the bed sheets. I lifted the futons and the mattress to inspect the corners, but did not find anything. I sent you the images of what I found on the bed you used, and you did not respond to us on your direct message or Google review. We take pest control very seriously and have a preventative program, including an indoor residual spraying (IRS) done last May 22nd and 25th (a copy of the certificate was already sent to you). If you think the room was not clean to your standard upon your arrival, you should have told the staff and asked us to move you to the other private room. But you did not, also when you arrived 2 days ago, you just came from the airport and used public transport on your way here. How certain are you that the seat you used is also spotless? Also, during your stay, you went out to do some sightseeing in the mountains and the lake wearing a t-shirt/polo shirt as seen in our camera, and when you got bike marks when you came back, you assumed that it was from the property. We are not defending anything; we know how the cleaning staff clean all the rooms, and we double-check it every time after cleaning. If a little dust is already dirty to you, you should complain to all the properties you stayed at. Just a recommendation, stay in a hotel and not Hostels since your standard is too high for a small business like ours.

You say in your comments that we have no common area, but if you look at any of our websites, you will see that we say we have no common areas, so, based on your comments, you may not have looked or read our website on booking.com. As for the room, we also have photos of all our rooms and the hostel for everyone to see clearly. Again, thank you for your stay with us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We appreciate your feedback and would like to address some of the points you've raised. First of all, you arrived at the property at 9 AM when we were still closed. We coordinated with you via email that our front desk opens at 10 AM, and no staff is available before that. Also, I was the one who checked you in and assisted you during your stay. This morning, before you checked out, you asked if you could stay after check-out, and I politely answered that we do not allow guests to stay here past check-out time as our accommodations are limited in size, which restricts us from offering late check-outs. As you already said, our accommodation is too small for you so we do not have that space to allow guests stay in here. We are the cheapest in this area, that is why you probably chose to stay here. We apologize if we did not meet your expectations. Maybe next time, stay in a Hotel instead of a budget Hostel. Thank you again for staying at Michael`s!

Thank you for your review, but let me answer some inconsistencies. You stayed in the Dormitory Room, which was already set when all guests checked in. The bed cover and blanket cover or pillowcase were placed. All of our bedding is pre-set before the guests arrive, so we don't know what sheets you are looking for. Also, we have Towels which are for rent that cost 100 yen.

We understand that the reception felt simple and lacked warmth; we are always looking for ways to improve our guest interactions and will take your feedback into consideration. Regarding the limited bar options in town, there are a few Izakayas that are available in town, but unlike the Tokyo area where you can just order a drink in a speakeasy bar, these small businesses in our town will require you to order a small dish. You were marked as a NO SHOW last October 26th since you did not arrive within our allowed check-in hours. We sent you several emails that included our check-in hours as well as details on how to get here but you never responded to any of our emails. You arrived at our property at 21:15H based on our CCTV footage. We received your email stating that you never got our email because you do not have an internet connection but as soon as you saw the sign on our door you can send us an email. We try to be as accommodating to our guests, if you at least sent us an email notifying us of your whereabouts we could have waited but you just ignored our emails.

Thank you for your stay with us. all the issues you talked about are on all our websites so if the things you talked about are not here as they are not then maybe you have picked a different hostel or better yet check-in to a hotel. Our hostel is clean friendly very cheap and has all that is needed for 99% of all backpackers.

Sleeping in a Japanese Futon is not as comfortable as sleeping in a regular bed. If you had a hard time sleeping on the futon, you should`ve approached us so we could give you an additional mattress to use. However, we appreciate your review and thank you for staying at Michael's.
