The word “extraordinary” is more than fitting for this hotel. From the very first moment, you feel genuinely welcomed and completely at ease. The friendly and exceptionally helpful staff deserve special mention, as do the outstanding breakfasts and dinners served during your stay. With many local ingredients and traditional Japanese culinary artistry at a fine dining level, absolutely no wishes are left unfulfilled. The rooms themselves are spacious, impeccably clean, and furnished with great attention to detail. After a wonderful day exploring the area, you can relax either on the terrace with its Zen garden or in your own private onsen bath. While the price is somewhat higher, it is absolutely justified given the quality of service provided. I would gladly return here at any time.

Exceptional staff- we felt extremely well cared for. Food was amazing, both breakfast and dinner. All drinks in the mini bar was included, which was a great bonus, and the TV had several apps we could use. It was the best and most comfortable ryokan I’ve stayed at.

Quiet, beautiful setting, near to Oshino but without the bustle. Views of Fujisan from the loving quarters, impeccable service from a lovely staff, some of the best kaiseki meals we’ve had.

Getting from the train station to the ryokan wasn't super ideal with large luggage, because the buses generally don't want you to board with large luggage. We took a taxi instead, but wasn't a big deal as it was only a 15 minute ride!

This ryokan was an excellent stay. We were able to reserve bikes (though we didn't have time to use them), had a full kaiseki dinner, and a very large traditional breakfast spread. Dinner was one of my favorite meals of the trip, and I definitely ate a lot of things I wouldn't normally choose. The staff was very kind as well, and explained everything about our room and stay upon arrival, with tea and a jelly wagashi (that looked like Mt. Fuji) to enjoy during the explanation. Our room was very large and comfortable, too.

I wish it was in a better location! Oshino is a small village, and it takes some time to travel to nearby sightseeing locations (e.g. Kawaguchiko) using local public transportation. We had a great time getting away from it all, but make sure to factor this into your planning as busses can be less frequent and often run late.

We had an exceptional stay at Konohanakan! The staff are brilliant and very attentive; we felt very well taken care of during our entire stay. The language barrier is no issue as we were able to communicate easily using Google translate when needed. The entire apartment is sparkling clean and beautifully presented with great amenities. The view of Mt. Fuji is breathtaking and the private onsen was very relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. We visited Oshino Hakkai (the "Eight Seas of Oshino") in the local area which is well worth a visit. It is only about a 20 minute walk from the ryokan. We had dinner and breakfast included in our stay which was a huge highlight for us! The food was delicious and wonderfully presented. Everything about our stay was impressive, and we can't wait to come back.

Our first ryokan experience that has set the bar high! From the moment I stepped through the doors, we felt welcomed and cared for in the most genuine way. The atmosphere was peaceful and authentic, with a perfect balance of traditional charm and modern comfort. The apartment was beautifully arranged—sliding shoji doors, and a serene view of Mount Fuji that made me instantly relax. The beds were comfortable, and everything was immaculately clean. The private onsen was a highlight—soothing, quiet, and surrounded by nature, it felt like a true retreat from the outside world. The kaiseki dinner was absolutely stunning—each dish beautifully presented, seasonal, and full of flavor. It was a whole experience, not just a meal. Breakfast was equally thoughtful and satisfying. What made it really special, though, was the hospitality. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, always anticipating needs without being intrusive. We will definitely return!

The location is a bit away from main transport stops, but they offer a transfer to the station when you checkout, so it's not critical at all.

It was my favorite Japan experience so far. The apartment is spacious, clean and comfortable. And the private onsen is beyond words, it's just magnificent! The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. Would definitely stay again!

This was definitely the highlight of my entire trip in Japan. The stay was fantastic from the service right down to the food. Be prepared to be very well fed every breakfast and dinner. The dining experience was truly memorable with each dish being carefully curated. The staff was extremely attentive and took note of every remark/request made. Location wise, it is not the easiest to get to if you are not driving. However, it is very tranquil and was a home away from home during our stay. 10/10 will be back again.

Located in a small town (Oshino) off the beaten tracks which can be challenging to get to with just public transport (will require a 10-20min walk with buses).

Amazing location with Mt Fuji clearly visible. Rooms were clean, well equipped and extremely beautiful. Service with attentive but not intrusive. Meals were top quality for the price. Private onsen was great too.

I liked it all!

This place was such a surprise. We were greeted by staff on our arrival and shown to our spacious living area, which consisted of an upstairs bedroom with lounging area, and a downstairs dining area with a bathroom and private hot bath. We had a beautiful view of My Fuji from our bedroom. The hot bath was such a nice touch, so lovely to be able to use after a long day of travelling. The lovely staff attended to all of our needs and made our check-in process very smooth. Unbeknownst to me, a huge traditional Japanese dinner was organised for us (something like 7-10 courses) by the chef. The food was phenomenal. Similarly, we had a large Japanese breakfast in the morning.
