Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanAlthough the apartment was comfortable, a few additional amenities would have made our stay more convenient. There was a washing machine, but no laundry detergent was provided, and the toilet lacked a washlet/bidet. Having lived in Japan for about ten years, we've grown accustomed to using washlets, so this was a noticeable absence. Providing these small touches would have enhanced the overall experience.
Our stay at this cozy apartment was pleasant. The host was welcoming and provided brochures of local attractions, which was a nice touch. The apartment is an older building nestled in a charming residential neighborhood, just a short walk from the train station (streetcar). From there, it’s an easy 10-minute ride to the ferry for Miyajima Island and about 45 minutes to an hour to downtown Hiroshima. We were a family of four—three adults and one child. The apartment features traditional Japanese-style accommodations with two small tatami rooms, three futons for floor sleeping, and a standard single bed, which was particularly convenient for my 63-year-old mother. This was our first experience sleeping on Japanese-style futons, and we found it to be quite comfortable. The apartment has one AC unit, which efficiently cools the space, though you'll need to keep the bedroom dividers open to circulate the air to other areas like the kitchen and dining area, where our dog stayed. The neighborhood is well-served with several convenience stores, a grocery store, and a JA farmers market all within walking distance. We enjoyed morning walks that often led us to the harbor, where we could watch oyster farmers at work—a unique and peaceful experience. Parking is available on-site for an additional 500 yen per day, and the pet fee is 1500 yen per day. Despite the apartment’s compact size, it suited our needs well, as we spent most of our time exploring the city. My husband, who occasionally feels claustrophobic, appreciated the courtyard space where he could relax, and it also provided a nice area for kids and pets to play. This apartment was a great base for our trip, offering a comfortable space for our dog to stay while we explored the city. Overall, we enjoyed our three-night stay and found it to be a convenient and pleasant experience.

BelgiumVery friendly landlady. Good communication. Beds were either inflatable mattresses or futons. It was our first experience with futons: we were pleasantly surprised and slept well.

JapanWe had our pet with us but were told that he could not enter the bedroom. Barriers had been put to prevent his going into it, which was a good thing. As the property is listed as « pet friendly » we could not understand why our pet was not allowed everywhere as he is completely house trained. As it happened, he was quite confused about having to sleep outside the bedroom till my son took his mattress to the other side of the barrier and put his arm through it to comfort our pet. This rule was also confusing because we paid 1500 yen extra for our pet.
The property was very nice, clean and also there was enough space for my two children and for me. We were very delighted with the arrangements and everything worked well. The parking space was big enough for our car, and we paid only 500 yen for it. There was only one air conditioner but it eventually cooled the whole apartment. The host was very nice and helpful and gave us ideas on where we could go to have good Japanese food. Before we checked out, she came and inspected the apartment before she allowed us to leave, and she was flexible about the check in and check out timings.

JapanThe host was very kind and welcoming. The apartment was absolutely stunning! It features two beautifully designed bedrooms — one in a modern Western style with a large, comfortable bed and a cozy sofa, and the other in traditional Japanese style, complete with tatami flooring for an authentic experience. The open-plan kitchen and living area is fully equipped with everything you might need, including a fridge, microwave, and stove — perfect for a comfortable and convenient stay. The apartment is also 5 minutes away by car from the Miyajima ferry terminal.

JapanI recommend clarifying with the host what “pet friendly” is. Our dog was not allowed to leave the kitchen area. My husband (native Japanese speaker) had talked to the host early in the day and confirmed we would be traveling with our dog. She explained the dog was not allowed in the bedroom but she could put futon in the living room for us instead. When we arrived, there was a baby gate blocking access to the living room and she told us the dog was not allowed there. My husband spoke to her at length over this discrepancy. Eventually she said she would make an exception for us. However, we were so uncomfortable with the situation we chose to sleep on the bare hard floor of the kitchen. It was a terrible night. The hallway and entry area was very dirty with a strong pet odor. The apartment had a faint pet odor as well. We left as early as we could to avoid any more time there. We understand that travelers with pets may cause problems and break rules. However, treating each guest as if they are a problem is not the solution.
The apartment has convenient parking for 500 yen additional.

United StatesWe didn't spend time in the tatami room because there was no cushion to sit on, only the floor. We did some hand laundry and it would have been nice to have a way to hang small clothing outside on the balcony.
We came to this town to visit family and found the location very convenient. The host communicated quickly and was friendly. She met us at a specified time to hand over the key and walk us through the apartment. She explained how things worked. She provided a local map with a few restaurant suggestions. Her house rules were clear. We liked the spacious size and amenities such as dishes, cutlery, some cooking pans (we didn't use them), the hot water kettle, refrigerator and microwave. If we needed to have an extended stay, this place would be perfect. For someone wanting to see Miyajima, the train is only a few minutes walk away and just a couple of stops down the line. This apartment offers an economical stay close to but not right in the middle of the tourist area.

JapanThe property owner entered the room without our permission and without us being present, without prior notification or consent to turn off electronics. This presents a compromise of security to me, as well as the smaller issue of resulting in an ice cold room upon return.
Excellent location and size at a great value when using the national travel support discount.
