Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesAll but one window had black out shades but that one window was next to a light post, and it was quite bright when going to sleep. I’m not bothered by sound as much but thin windows next to a relatively (for Chichibu) street might bother some. Hotel provides earplugs.
Charming, large space; hinoki bath tub that smells wonderful; friendly staff and great food. Building is not well insulated but there were AC/heating units in every room, including the bathroom. Totally worth opting for the dinner—not only does it taste good, but they also seem to focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Would like to come back and try staying in different rooms/buildings.

AustraliaThe sleeping area was a bit cold, which ended up being fine for sleeping. The high windows on the room did not have blinds that we could find so the morning light woke us.
The bathroom and bathtub were very luxurious. The location is excellent close to bars and restaurants. Everything was very clean. The host provided us with vouchers and recommendations for local businesses which were excellent.

JapanI get that the interior where we had breakfast was emulating the traditional Doma place in a Minka house, but it had a bit of a chilly atmosphere and could do with creating a warmer welcoming atmosphere...
The presentation of the breakfast was really beautiful and tasty! Everything came in 12 little bowl plates, neatly aligned on the tray, every dish in a different colour to make the served food stand out - pure eye candy ;- )

United KingdomWe had a room with stairs, and the stairs were a bit steep.
It was a fantastic place right near the railway station. The room was spacious and had a very traditional vibe to it. Even though it was chilly outside, it had a lot of ways to keep the place warm, and the bath was nice and big, and there was lots of hot water. The breakfast was also amazing -.12 Japanese tasting dishes. It had all the feeling of staying at a traditional inn. We also got some coupons for the local goods gift shop and the ones, which was a nice touch.

United KingdomNothing.
The wood panelled rooms were well crafted and smelled of cedar. Everything was pleasing to the senses, the view, touch, smell, ambience, the taste of breakfast. The bath was especially lovely. They also have two bikes available to use, and I made use of one of them to explore before leaving.

FranceIf you come with public transport, you have to take the bus or have a 10+ minutes walk. It is perfectly fine but I had big big suitcases with me, so I struggled a bit.
I loved the warm welcome from the employees and the traditional breakfast was a dream. The room was so huge it was bigger than my appartment ! The Bath in wood was beyond everything, I felt like a princess

JapanAlthough the French course dinner was meticulously presented and well prepared by the chef, the flavors of some of the dishes were a bit off balanced. The texture, ingredients and plating is immaculate but the overuse of acid(vinegar/wine) was too much.
Museum-like designed rooms that combines raw and natural materials that is both modern and historical. The hinoki bathtub gives off a relaxing aroma when filled. The spacious rooms are well heated and very clean. Convenient and close to the temples, supermarkets and restaurants. Breakfast was delicious!

Hong Kong(1) It’s a bit confusing for the location of reception. (2) I had my room lock malfunction but I can’t contact the receptionist as there’s no land line telephone inside the room which is not well considered for tourist who may not have phone data in Japan. (3) the facilities arrangements are not too convenient, (a) there s no bed side place (b) the cutlery, drinks & kettle are placed at the bathroom area (c) some socket arrangements which are not convenient to use e.g close to the exit door or far from the table.
Such a heritage building. Recommended Chichibu soda drinks is nice.
