How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis great hostel is in a lovely quiet location with some good cafes and izakaya nearby. It's also very near Asakusa station which makes it well connected to other parts of Tokyo. The hostel itself is very compact as it is an older building, but this adds to the cute and cosy feel of the place. The wooden 'pods' in the mixed dormitory provided additional privacy. I was very comfortable there and felt reluctant to move on.

Verified reviewI really love this place. My favorite hostel so far. It provides me a senses of privacy because the division between beds is nice structure. Also is super clean. The bathroom spotless. The staff so helpful and polite.

Verified reviewIt's a small place with narrow corridors, but the best thing about this hostel was the people. There is one small communal area in the kitchen and I met lots of people there. Also the staff very kindly hosted a party for the fireworks festival, providing food and drink for free. It was a very nice gesture. Plus everything was nice and clean, as you expect in Japan.
It would have been good if I'd received the door code in advance of my arrival as I got stuck outside. I requested a lower bunk but unfortunately this wasn't available. The high bunk was tricky to get in and out of and was very warm, despite the air conditioning. I had to keep my curtain open. The toilet in the girls' dorm was also very hot.

Verified reviewStayed here before. As always cheap & spacious. The crowd that stays here tends to be talkative solo travelers if you talk to them first, which is always what makes a guesthouse worth it imo, especially if travelling solo. The managers are always kind & helpful. You can leave luggage before/after checking in/out at no charge.
Only minus I can mention this time around is due to the extreme heat as of July 2025, even with aircon on full blast I'd wake up feeling a bit clammy from the heat.

Verified reviewI like how the house is a Japanese old style, and how we have our own space even it’s in the share dormitory!
Due to the fact that it’s an older houser, the noise when people are moving around the house can be pretty loud.

Verified reviewStaff were very friendly and kind and the location was in a lovely area with easily accessible public transport to the rest of Tokyo. The hostel felt safe.
There was a light that switched on and off anytime someone walked into the dorm room. Would benefit from having some more couches to relax on.

Verified reviewExcellent location, just a 10 minute walk and you're in the heart of asakura. Towel included in the room. Facilities clean. Travelled as a couple so can't comment on the social aspect of the hostel.
Bed were very uncomfortable, sunk right to the floor. 3 nights were more than enough!

Verified reviewThe bed space is spacious and can hold a lot of your belongings while still being comfortable.
The stairs are quite narrow & steep, so luggage can be hard to bring up to your room. Be extra careful!

Verified reviewVery good hostel in a quiet residential area near to Asakusa station (10 minutes walk more or less). Asakusa station is very convenient to take the train to Nikko. Friendly staff. The capsules/beds were very spacious and equipped with sockets (Very important), a light and a locker (You have to bring your own padlock). Bed sheets and towels were included in the price. The room, the shared bathroom and the common area were clean. There is a Lawson store behind the corner open 24 hours.

Verified reviewIt's within walking distance to Asakusa Station (Asakusa Line and Ginza Line) and Honjo Azumabashi Station. The check in was easy because we arrived late at night. The capsule is spacious, enough space to bring in your bags and shopping stuffs. Indoors slippers and towel is provided.
It's a little old, and inside was kinda narrow with only two shower room. There's only Lawson100 nearby.

Verified reviewGreat room located in a typical hostel. The neighbourhood is very quiet, you are 10min away from metro and 20 min fron senso-ji (by foot). The room was very confortable even if a bit small

Verified reviewReally spacious capsules (I could even put my big luggage next to the bed!) and quiet space. True the walls are thin but that's everywhere in Japan, and even as a light sleeper I've seen much worse. 10 mins away from the metro and 15 from one of the main temples of Tokyo. Konbini just next door if you need food, and also really really quiet neighbourhood! Honestly, I couldn't recommend this place enough!
If I had to say one thing, the stairs are a little steep when you carry a luggage, but that's manageable.
