Fabulous location just a few steps from the Meoto Iwa (Wedded Rocks). Friendly staff and exceptional service in a traditional ryokan with wonderful kaiseki dinner and breakfast. We appreciated the shuttle ride to and from the train station.

Outstanding staff members provided service that far exceeded our expectations. Every person we encountered was genuinely friendly, polite, and committed to making us feel at home. Ota san was exceptionally sweet and attentive and we looked forward to seeing her every day. Oishiya is a beautiful, traditional ryokan that offered public & private baths (no reservations needed) and is steps away from the sea. Imagine waking up and being able to gaze at the sea from your bed! Kaiseki meals (breakfast & dinner) were amazing - delicious and beautiful. Though we stayed for 3 nights, the meals never felt repetitive as they switch dining rooms and courses each night. Appreciated the drivers who will regularly pick you up and drop you off at the bus or train station. Their timely and courteous service allowed us to enjoy Oishiya's peaceful location while still having access to other sights in the Mie prefecture. It was a perfect stay!

We were sad to leave such an outstanding place.

The comfort of the room, the delicious food, the location and the staff, particularly the young lady who served us.

Just one minor disappointment. On the last night, due to language barrier, we had requested them to try and reserve a table for us at a restaurant in Nagoya for the next night. For some reason, they were reluctant to do so. I am still scratching my head wondering why they refused to do so.

We LOVED the personalised service provided in traditional inns - especially by our caretaker and waitron Yasuyo Ohnishi! There can be no better location on the seashore within reach of Ise Temple Complex, located on Futiminoura Beach. They will pick you up and drop you off at the closest station and a  100m walk to the beautiful "wedded rocks (at Futamiokitama Shinto Shrine) is worth it even on a hot day! It was pouring  rain when we arrived early so the driver dropped us off a beautifully restored old traditional mansion set in a tranquil zen garden to wait for reception to open at 3pm. We only realised later it's only 3 houses away from the hotel so easily accessible bonus for Oishiya's guests ! The meals (dinner and breakfast was included) was exceptional and extensive with more than 5 courses, each one beautifully arranged in trays and in stunning pottery, served by the lovely and ever helpful  Yashyu Ohnishi in her immaculate kimono Dinner was attended in the Inn's provided kimono's which really added to the experience of Japanese culture we were looking for in a traditional Inn or Ryokan like this. The private Onsen (hot spring bath) was a great bonus for two shy westerners as was the slightly raised western beds in our beautiful tatami mat room with a view to the ocean and shoji screens (rather than curtains) to manage the light! It was by far the most pleasant and perfect stay in more than 30 years of travel internationally!

Nothing except having too small an an appetite to eat all that loverly presented food!

Oishiya is a fabulous fourth generation-owned ryokan on the coast not far from the magnificent Ise Shinto shrines of Geku and Naiku. While the town is rather dead, when you enter the ryokan, you pass into another world of luxurious calm (they ought to have a torii at the door!) Mr. Matsuda and his staff are extraordinarily warm, the hotel is absolutely beautiful and impeccably clean, the onsens private and public on the fourth floor are beautiful spots to unwind, and the kaiseki food is spectacular. We felt cared for at every turn, and we loved our night at Oishiya. And be sure to visit the remarkable Hinjitsukan, once a glorious ryokan, now an intriguing museum, a few doors down!

    Nothing.
