Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Hong KongMy room is tiny and very basic. Just a thick mattress and rolling mattress in my case. Just a low table provided. Not easy to seat comfortably. Some room have a normal bed. Not exactly same as picture shown. Considered what I paid for during festival, it is acceptable in my case. Have ski storage area but no heated dry room. Wet ski boot will be a problem. Need to walk 2 floor up in a very steep narrow stair to my room. Beware if bring in heavy luggage. Heater in room will automatic stop in mid cold night, need to turn on manually, maybe I do not know how to use it. Need to bring own cup, tea, coffee, etc. And, the entrance is at left hand side of Korean restaurant when you are facing it. Do not follow the exact location in google map which will make you ring bell on wrong door.
Right in front of a bus station (Honmachi bus stop) to /from Liyama station, Nosawa Onsen, Madarao Kogen, Togari Ski area. But please check google map info and bus stop, time schedule first. Togari Ski area has not every bus stop here and can be only stop at another station (Nakamachi) that is only 300Meter away. Opposite to Convenient store. Short walk to a drug store with mini market that sell good collect of food. Short walk to restaurants. Same owner run a Korean restaurant. Microwave, shared fridge provided. Cold water, hot water from a water dispenser that is convenient. No cooking allowed! Shower room(only 1, shared), toilet. Overall experience acceptable considering the convenient location and what I paid for.

Convenient, quiet location in the centre of Iiyama. Spacious room (rarer for Japan) and shared facilities. The bathroom... it's the biggest downfall and for a longer stay it might have found this is in the negative section but, for 2 days, we were maybe in there 20 minutes tops so didn't bother us.

AustraliaWe couldnt find the entrance to begin with and went into the Korean restaurant which they also own and run. The owners dont know any/ much English and just said "checkin not till 4pm" and waved us out, but we wanted to leave our luggage there. Even though there was only 1 person dining at the restaurant at the time it seemed a bother for her to come show us where to leave our luggage. When we came back after 4pm got our room and it had one single bed mattress and one futon so we had to choose who got what. The mattress was hard and the futon was so thin it was like sleeping on the floor so I think we both got same same comfort. There was no tea or coffee in the room or Tv. The heater kept turning itself off so we had to turn it back on several times during the night. There was only one shower which everyone has to share so you have to wait at peak times when everyone comes back to the accom. There is also only 1 toilet upstairs and 1 downstairs. You take your shoes off and wear slippers in the hotel which is fine except I got my shoes stolen once at a hotel and as I only had one pair of shoes with me for this trip I took them upstairs to put in the suitcase to keep them safe. We got a message later asking us to please leave our shoes downstairs and there is cctv so nobody will steal them. When we hadn’t responded to the message in 5 mins they messaged us again to please respond once we understood. I said thanks. They didn’t message us again. The wifi was awful and barely worked so we were lucky we got the message in the first place. There is no elevator so not good4 heavy luggage. The towels were small but I think that’s a Korean thing. One side of our window was cracked. This was the only hotel with rooms left in town during the snow festival which is why we booked it. It was a bit noisy once everyone came back at night& in the morning when everyone was getting ready to leave.
Checkin wasn’t till 4pm but we wanted to check out the Iiyama snow festival so they allowed us to leave our bags inside the hotels hallway. The hotel is above a Korean restaurant with a little door off to the side to enter. It was a great location with a bus stop to nozawa onsen and madarao right outside and a short walk to the castle park (which is where the snow festival was) and only 10mins easy walk from the train station. We went to nozawa onsen for a day trip after checkout and they allowed us to leave our luggage there while we were away. They have an area downstairs for skis/ snowboard it’s kinda like an open air (but enclosed) laundry area. They do have a couple of washing machines so I’m sure you could ask to use them. They had a communal hot water machine, microwave and fridge on the room level with the sinks. A 7 eleven is across the road and a huge drugstore is just a few doors down which has really good cheap snacks, drinks, alcohol, medicines etc. The owner is a (maybe alittle shy) Korean lady who used a translator (as we speak both English and easy Japanese and she speaks I think easy Japanese and Korean.) We got toothbrushes and tooth paste sachet thingo to brush our teeth.

Czech RepublicUnfortunately internet was an issue one day.
It is a good alternative for last minute booking when you are price conscious. It is just some 3 min to Nozawa Onsen. It is rather basic, but clean and satisfactory.

United StatesI had a great stay. This hotel offers excellent value for the price, with a clean and comfortable room. The bed was especially comfortable. One nice thing about the location is that it’s right across the street from a 24/7 7-Eleven, making it super convenient for grabbing snacks or anything else you might need. The hotel also has plenty of parking, which was great since I was visiting the Myoko ski resorts—about a 45-minute drive away. The owners were incredibly nice and took the time to explain everything, making me feel very welcome. Overall, I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable and comfortable place. My only regret is that I didn’t try the restaurant. All of the food on the menu looked delicious.

JapanIt was about a 15min walk from iiyama station which is ok except in a snow blizzard with luggage...it gets cold! There is nothing really in the area- it is a sleepy neighborhood. However, I didn't really check out the other side of the station. The bath towels are super small (think large teatowel size) which is no problem, but it would have been good to get fresh ones for our second night.
I had my expectations set really low after reading some of the reviews here, but we were limited on options after our Nozawa onsen accommodations fell through. I was really pleasantly surprised tho at how friendly the woman owner was. She had limited English but used the translator on her phone and was very animated and full of fun expression. If you have stayed in a private Japanese ski lodge, this is exactly how it is - empty rooms with futons, shared bathrooms and sink. Everything was clean, and while there were other guests staying, we didn't have an issue having to wait for a shower or bathroom. The room was warm and there was a heater in the hallway also. The owners own the Korean restaurant below so when you check in or if you have questions, you just pop in there to see them. The bus for nozawa onsen is literally at their front door. There is also a seven11 across the road.

AustraliaI booked based on the summary information page which stated 3 beds. It was actually 1 bed and 2 sleeping on the floor.
We booked our stay at 8pm at night, 10 minutes before arriving. Our hosts greeted us at the door and were warm and welcoming. The location is great with the bus stop to Nozawa Onsen at the front door. The shared kitchen and bathroom were great too. The owners made our stay fabulous.

AustraliaThe bathroom was freezing and the bath plug had been removed to dis allow bathing. The room was small and the heating shut off repeatedly and the cupboard was locked so there was no room for gear. Breakfast was not included even though it was advertised on Booking, com. There was a ski area in the basement which was probably 0 Degrees and a sign saying boots must be left here. No Drying room. No crockery or cutlery to use for food even though there was a fridge and a microwave.... generally cold and unwelcoming
The location was close enough to walk to the train station.

AustraliaIt was overpriced and underwhelming. It’s hard to find (an unmarked and unnumbered door down the side of a restaurant). The stairs up are steep and narrow — it’s essentially a subdivided part of someone’s house. The sinks are in the hallway and the shower is down a level as part of the laundry. The towels are hand towels so it’s hard to dry yourself after a shower with only those. The sheets/pillowcases are also strange, held on with elastic bands, but were clean. We booked a triple room and were given a double. The landlady let herself into our room in the morning with no explanation. For the price I expected a lot more, I think they’re charging more than double what it’s worth.
The heating was good and the twin bed mattresses were comfortable.

AustraliaFor the price of a typical hotel room it is the worst value for money accommodation I have ever experienced. They have small portable heating units to combat the negative temperatures, which the owner turns off while you are out to save money. There are no keys so the accommodation is open all the time, small hand towels are provided which we had to use for our showers in the unheated bathroom. Then when we left the owner accused us of stealing these hand towels which are worth no more than $5 each, an absurd accusation followed by abusive language from her. She is very intense and knows no boundaries with cameras throughout the accommodation essentially spying on us, which she used to discover one of my friends wore the provided crocs inside the house which we thought were left for us to wear in the house, as this was unclear as her description of the rules was in Japanese which she assumed we would understand after pointing at the shoes and then the inside floor. We paid for 4 beds and one bed was nothing more than a blanket lay out on the floor. The town of Iiyama is an absolute ghost town so if you can help it stay in Nozawa Onsen and if you have to stay in Iiyama do not stay here.
Not much at all.
