If more trash bin can be in the dorm room would be more comfortable. A small but safe stand for placing goods within bedside would be helpful (I stayed at upper bed and goods fallen…)

The design of the whole facility is very cute and warm. The house is well maintained with the old style which having a retro atmosphere.

Right on the shopping street that connects the town. Wonderful location, amazing work on the renovation and the design, with little touches and details that are delightful and surprising. Great little cafe attached, and thoughtful facilities.

To get into the guesthouse, you have to walk down a narrow hallway. Then to get to the rooms, it is up narrow stairs and another hallway. So if you're travelling with luggage, it is very difficult. I also didn't like the showers. It is very dark in there and I think the water doesn't drain very well.

I liked the large living room area and the location of the guesthouse. It is along the main shopping street. The staff was nice.

A tatami is hard to sleep on if you're not used to it.. bathroom downstairs

It as more authentic Japanese style than any other place I've been. That made it beautiful but also less comfortable than the more modern places

The only minor drawback was the shared toilet area—while the toilet itself was behind a locked door, the sink area wasn’t, which made for the occasional awkward encounter or noise as people came and went. Still, it’s a small trade-off for such a memorable and unique stay.

Anago no Nedoko is more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience. The atmosphere is warm, creative, and effortlessly cool, like spending the night inside a library curated by someone with impeccable taste. The staff were fantastic: trendy, welcoming, and switched to fluent English the moment they realised my companion didn’t speak Japanese, which was both considerate and professional. That small gesture really stuck with us.

The showers could have been a tad cleaner. I'd love an area with just a sink/vanity outside the main dorm so you can brush your teeth or get ready without disturbing others in the room.

We stayed here twice - at the beginning and end of our cycling the Shimanami Kaido. The location was very well-located, close to restaurants and shops and only a 10-15min walk from the station and bike rental facility. The baggage forwarding service was incredibly helpful, and they even held our bags for free before check-in which we appreciated a ton. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The building itself is super charming, with a great spacious common area with books, board games etc. and a big kitchen. The bedding was comfy and the beds were spacious. I appreciated a toilet being inside the mixed dorm room for easy access.

We did not feel very welcomed at the property, felt like treading on egg shells for whole stay. Quite expensive compared to other Japanese accommodations we’ve stayed at.

The place was very nice it's a japanese style inn so it was very cool to stay in. I was originally planning to stay for 3 nights but the whether wasn't looking to good for the next few days so decided to add on a few more nights because I found the place so comfortable and in such a convienet spot. They offered a japanese style breakfast for just 400 yen that you could order the night before, which I ordered everyday and it was delicious. The place is located near the station, right down the shopping street, next to a Lawsons, and near all the ramen shops. It's also in a good place to start the temple walk and is right down a cool looking alleyway with a book store at the end and a little garden that you could look out into in the common area. As for the staff, they were very nice, accomadting, welcoming, spoke great english and had a great taste in music! They even gave me fresh bed sheets without even having to ask because I was staying so long. If your stopping by onomichi (which you should, it's a nice little port town) this is a great place to stay...they also had a guitar!

Staff were great. Very accommodating and helpful when I fell ill and needed to extend my stay and change my luggage arrangements. They even checked in to see how I was doing and offered to pick up medicine for me. Kotatsu in the common room was a great addition!

AC was way too hot everywhere. Staff entered with other local customers into the dormitories at early morning speaking to each other like they were in a bar. There are guests sleeping. One of them was me.

The bathroom situation for me was a bit strange, as one of the toilet is only accessible through the mixed dorm. I can't imagine how disrupting it would be to sleep, whilst people are constantly coming in and out. Also, the showers are downstairs, which means little privacy.

The location is perfect, close to the station and main and vibrant streets. It's perfectly located if you want to cycle the Shimanami- Kaido route, as the ferry is 5' walk. They also have a space for bikes, if needed. The café is lovely too. The whole space has a cosy vibe to it! The staff were nice and helpful. The common area is super comfortable and spacious. It's equipped with a full kitchen and amenities. The beds are comfortable and the female dorm is quite spacious. Overall, it was very clean and well kept!

There was only 1 toilet upstairs and it was within the mixed room. So if you are a female and don't want to go in there you would have to go downstairs to the one in the common area or the one outside. There is a sink provided in the female room though so that's good. Since it's within an arcade, you may hear the sounds outside more such as cars passing and shops opening.

Really interesting design and decor. I enjoyed looking around the place. The place was in a good location within an arcade and also near the station. The kitchen area was nice and they provided tea and coffee. You had to make your bed but that means the sheets you get are clean. They also provide small lockers within the room and you are able to leave your bags with them after check out.

My bed was really uneasy to get to, in a dark corner of the room. Some were much nicer.

The vibe of the place is great! It’s all wooden, tatamis, in an old place with a garden. Dormitories are more modern.
