Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeA bit dated
I love all the small extras like the free popsicles, free drinks and other amenities. Onsen was pretty especially the outdoor one. There were 2 that we could soak in, both were nice! Dinner and breakfast were buffet. Kids loved it.

United StatesWe chose the Japanese style room however sleeping on futons were not comfortable. Also no private bath/shower was quite uncomfortable for westerners. Bath and shower were shared and open.
Very clean and staff were very friendly. The Japanese buffet for breakfast and dinner were excellent and so many dishes to choose from.

United KingdomThe hotel only has the name on the building in Japanese so it was a bit difficult to find.
A friendly welcome ( once they could find an English speaker!) Huge Japanese style room with rush matting, low tables and futons. Very clean and comfortable. Our deal included dinner and breakfast. Both were excellent buffets with some western food if you wanted it. My husband was in ecstasy over the beef counter and returned several times. The Onsen bath was medium sized and lovely. It's slightly out of town but there's a lovely riverside walk down to the beach that takes 20 minutes.

AustriaThere was no bicycle parking at all, which I never saw at a hotel before. We were also not allowed to park our bikes on the car parking spots. This was not a big problem as the staff was very kind and found an alternative solution, but this was a hassle and took quite a while. I think bike parking can be expected at any place.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and made us feel very welcome even though we did not speak much Japanese. The buffet was very good and the Onsen was great as well.

JapanWe weren’t able to use the onsen due to having tattoos which is understandable but a bit disappointing - especially because it was one of the main reasons for booking this particular hotel.
The hotel exceeded our expectations in terms of the size of the room, the services and amenities. The dinner and breakfast buffets were fantastic and our favorite part was the lounge with a library of books, free drinks and ice creams.

JapanThere was some mold in the room on the ceiling and on the curtains. The table tennis equipment was broken and falling apart.
Great customer service and tasty breakfast and dinner buffets.

AustraliaI found this property from booking.com and they said that they just put it in the list recently for international travellers. It looks good so I gave it a go. In terms of the facilities, staff, food and general set up; there is no problem at all. However, you'll find a big challenge when you start checking in because no staff can speak English, all forms and information is in Japanese only. Fortunately I speak a fair bit of Japanese so it's not a big drama at all, but it will be part of the fun for other visitors from overseas! It’s a quite common phenomenon if you travel in rural Japan.
All meals are served in buffet style but the quality is a lot higher than my expectation. The onsens are excellent especially the outdoor one that was renovated recently. Parking is not a problem as they have several parking lots near by. Staffs are friendly and helpful; the Japanese style room is clean and tidy. All drinks and

JapanIt is a good experience so it was well worth it, in many ways it was a true Japanese onsen hotel with all the interesting things that can be found in such a place, including very authentic clientele.
The food was very generous and fresh in the buffet, everyone was super excited to have such a huge range of options and the staff were efficient. The room and the onsen were pleasant and we slept well.

SingaporeBuffet was average but acceptable. Food could have been kept hotter. Staff at the restaurant was less passionate than usually encountered in Japan.
Room was huge for the price. We got a Japanese style special room. Facilities were great. Complimentary beverages including beer and small desserts, really good massage chairs, small library in the lobby. Two sets of indoor/outdoor onsens for each gender. Choices of yukata designs in the lobby.

CanadaThe room itself was a little disappointing--it was worn out and more dirty than it should be. They really should schedule a deep cleaning at least, preferably a minor refit. I will grant that the floors seem to be vacuumed reasonably well (most important for a tatami room), they replenish supplies, and maybe they give a quick wipe to the table tops, but that's probably all they regularly do. It was dusty in the corners of alcoves and in closets (big dust balls next to the safe), water stained around the vanity, dirty around the edges of the vanity and the shelf and lights above it, brown on the sides of the towel bar, very moldy all over the bathroom (they need better ventilation), some wallpaper was starting to peel, and there was what looked like a coffee spill on the outer handle of the inside door, and a big brown hand print on the other side of the door. It's like they are not giving their cleaners enough time to take care of anything beyond the minimum. We wiped up some of it ourselves just to get comfortable. There was a musty smell in the room that faded a bit after leaving on the ventilation fan and air conditioner. Beside that, the furniture looks worn out, especially the pockmarked tables and chairs. To top it off, the card payment machine at their front desk does not indicate the amount of the payment to be authorized--before you authorize it--like a modern payment system should. At least it prints out a proper receipt. Just a lot of annoying details. It was fine for my family get away, but you won't impress a girl/boyfriend with this
Great buffet meals. Common areas are well kept (make sure you use them all!). The indoor bath was decent and I'm told the outdoor bath was good (I didn't have time for that). Staff are courteous and helpful, although they only have one gentleman at the front desk with fluent English. They give you a choice of room cleaning service levels. Look out for the flag at the train station that lists the minibus pickup times.
