Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing.
I loved meeting fellow skiers over breakfast from all around the world. I think that's the real difference of staying in a ski lodge bs a hotel. You get to meet fellow ski enthusiasts. The breakfasts were lovely and the chef cooked a lively meal for us one evening.

AustraliaSome inhouse dinners would be great. The low doors.
The snow, the sabel, the quiet location, the view of Mt Yotei. Close, with a car, to the Niseko Village gondola, and Annapurni connector(s) at the top. The staff are good, casual and helpful. Transport and some food options, early and late can be challenging, a car is a must, and is bus+walk accessible but time limited..Good spot for kean riders.

JapanThe space and layout is great, but it would look way nicer with some better decor and soft furnishing.
Quieter and closer to Annupuri. Niseko Grand Hirafu is way too busy and filled with tourists, so it was nice to be nestled away.

Great value for the price, very basic lodge. Staff is very friendly and the breakfast is good. Location is just OK-you really need a car to avoid walking with your skis.

Netherlandswe took a little bigger room and we are satisfied. There was an option to have a breakfast, it was not as good as mentioned in the comments, but sufficient. The only down side it was not at 7, but starting later. Overall a good place to stay. 5 min walk to the Diamond Lodge with western meal options. Friendly stuff.

AustraliaThere was not enough laundry equipment for the whole building however, just 1 washer and dryer each. The room I ordered was marked as a "room with a view" "mountain view". The only view we had was of the snowbank next to the house as we were in a semi-basement. To add to that ventilating the room was not possible if the buildings heating system was active, as our rooms window was right by the gas tank out the back. Most times if we opened the window to let fresh air in, all we got was a gas smell.
The staff were amazing, always went above and beyond to help with any of our needs and we're very friendly. Zero complaints to them The breakfast service was great and the facilities were well looked after. Comfortable room with plenty of space for 5. I want to stress again how great the staff were, haven't received better treatment anywhere else in Japan as of yet, great bunch of people.

JapanThe larger bathroom's bathtub was not practical, as the size was too big and water was not hot enough. But you can always choose to use the smaller bathroom.
It was a warm stay, welcomed and assisted by friendly staffs. Enjoyed talking to the other guests as well. Facilities were great, including bathrooms with bathtubs, hair dryer, small fridge in each room, ski drying room, washing machine and dryer, electric kettle, microwave, etc. Location was good enough, reachable by Niseko United Shuttle Bus at "Higashiyama Pension Village" and about 5-10 mins walk. Beer is sold at acceptable price range, considering everything in Niseko is expensive. Snowboards pickup from the lodge were delayed because of Yamato's fault, but staffs are kind enough to help to handle even after our stay was over. Great service!

SingaporeLocation, but that's only because we didn't drive.
It was our first time to Niseko, so I didn't know much about the location, and I couldn't tell much about it from Google Maps. It is not a convenient location if you do not drive, and to be fair, the property did recommend that I hire a car. That said, it worked out for us, except on the first night when we arrived, and there was nothing to eat. This was all my fault as I failed to read the message from the lodge to bring my own supplies as there are no restaurants around, and the closest one to us closed at 4 pm. We enjoyed our stay there. The facilities were good. The rooms were simple but really cosy and clean. And to be honest, after a full day on the ski slopes, all you want is a nice hot bath and a comfortable and clean bed. I would go back again now that I am more familiar with the location and know how to navigate around.

JapanI had a relaxing stay in Niseko during summer. The room I booked was good and clean, but personally, it was also a little dark for me. The facilities at the lodge are also clean and well-maintained. Basic amenities are provided. The staff and owners are warm and nice people; they are very helpful in giving information about the area and answering requests from guests. They also make sure you travel to the lodge safely by informing you route options, since the location is kind of remote and inconvenient. Meals aren't provided during the period I stayed in and there are no convenience stores that are within walking distance, but the staff told me about the nearby restaurants and vegetarian/vegan options. I travelled alone but I think it would be great value for those travelling with partners or in groups. The room comes with two-three single beds so it would be very cheap for the group to split the cost. Overall, it was a great stay and I look forward to visiting the lodge again, next time with friends during winter.

JapanThey say expectations determine our level of satisfaction, and I'll admit that my expectations were sky high, based on a previous stay last year. Apparently the previous owners are gone, and that's too bad. They really made the extra effort. What can I say? The quality of the service, in particular the cooking, has dropped. But this problem was compounded by the fact that Niseko is a very dificult place to get around (just forget about getting a taxi. Forget it.) and do non-snow stuff. I don't blame the current management for this. But, it would have been nice if they had stepped up with a shuttle service to the restaurants and slopes as their competition is doing. Also, they need a full time Japanese speaker to handle the usual problems guests face (booking buses, getting around, etc).
When I was looking, Niseko Ski Lodge Higashiyama was by far the cheapest place within walking distance to the ski lift (Banzai), from which you can get a free ride to the nearest lift ticket window (Hilton). They feed you an all you can eat breakfast that is filling, if not particularly exciting. Everyone is very nice.
