Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeNothing really. Facilities are complete and well furnished.
Situated in Hagi, it is filled with stories of historical figures. Worth walking around to read about them to understand how some of them shape Japan today. There is also a small shopping street just 2 min walk away. Some distance away are also beautiful attractions and unique places.

AustraliaThe karaoke bars around the corner had us a little worried, but in the end they didn't disturb us at all.
Visiting Hagi was a last minute decision... so glad we did. Its a great little historic town off the usual tourist track. Rabbit is an amazing host. She met us at the station, gave us a quick tour of town, made dinner reservations for us and then settled us in to the guest house. It is a house, not just a room, and is well equipped and comfortable. Well located for seeing the town. Highly recommended.

United KingdomNot knowing exactly where to park our car before hand. Maybe worthwhile to provide the parking space map for the guests. The staircase is steep and narrow. There isn’t a proper entrance hall and your have to leave your shoes by the door. It is rather difficult to drag your bags and suitcases upstairs through this tiny area.
Well equipped, clean, tidy and spacious. We managed to get food from nearby food store and had our breakfast there the following morning before heading off to our next destination. We met a lady, believed to be the owner of the guest house, the evening we arrived there. She recommended a Japanese place for dinner and took us there directly, a very kind gesture indeed.

United StatesIf you’re taller than 5’10”, you will be hitting your head on the doorways. I did, several times. not an issue, just be cautious. Everything else is really nice.
It’s a nice guest house near the center of Hagi. The space is large enough for a couple and possibly two children. For two people, it’s very spacious. Our host was very helpful and was able to secure dinner reservations and a tour guide.

United StatesWe wish we had chosen this accommodation from the start of our stay in Hagi.
This two-bedroom apartment above a Karaoke bar was like heaven. There was plenty of hot water in the shower and there was also a large soaking tub. The floor in the shower/bath room is heated. The kitchen had a 2-burner stove and small grill, a microwave over, and a counter top oven. The refrigerator had a large water bottle and also had a large freezer. There were pots, pans, cooking utensils, and an array of condiments. The connected dining area had 4 western chairs and a table, ample enough for two people to eat at and work on a computer at. The heat pump took some time to figure out but then provided all the heat we needed. The bedrooms had western beds and fluffy warm goose down comforters. There were plenty of plugs to charge your electronics with. There was a washing machine but we didn't use it. The Karaoke Bar revs up at about 9pm but quiets down at midnight. My husband slept through the singing, but I enjoyed falling to sleep listening to the singing. The best feature was the owner who went above and beyond to be helpful. She drove us to an electronics store so we could buy a pocket translator and then to MacDonald's for a cup of coffee, and finally to the JR Station so we could catch a bus to Tsuwano. I think we made a good friend.

United KingdomThere are several karaoke bars in the vicinity which start around 8 pm and continue late into the night and are not well-sound proofed and these could disrupt your sleep. The solution we found was to run every heater/air conditioner, dehumidifier/humidifier to create white noise to mask the karaoke. It just about worked but was not ideal.
Well equipped, spacious, good wi-fi, bath, sleeping and living areas.
