Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaIt is a bit of a weird match between the original style when the hotel was build (I guess 70ish-80ish) and refurbed new looks. The elevators are old, the furniture in the lobby looks very dated and also the bath room (in our room) looked aged. The room itself was refurbished and was really large. Nice beds, great view, proper Wifi. And my biggest negative was the price/value equation. Granted we visited the hotel during probably the busiest week of the year, but it was too much money for the overall experience.
The hotel is 5 minutes on foot from the Shirahama Beach and the town center with the onsets, shops and restaurants. The staff is very helpful (and speaks reasonable english) and friendly. On the day of our departure, we where given a complimentary transfer to the train station. We asked for a taxi - we got a car with a driver from the hotel. The hotel has everything you need. A pool, 2 large restaurants (however expensive) a massive lobby and the location.

NetherlandsThe pool area is smaller than expected, and only limited beds for size of hotel (and people reserving them with towels unfortunately…), some tables and chairs but less comfortable. If you are with more than 2 persons then you get futon beds for the rest but these mattresses (too) thin (but again staff stepped up and provided us with double mattresses!).
Staff was very attentive and helpful, in particular the Jolve spa staff and one of the front desk staff, who helped out on an emergency. The location is convenient (it is on a hill, but def doable), wellness is pricy but amazing.

United StatesThe hotel did not have a very easy access to the beach. We had to walk up the hill after enjoying a day at the beach and that was not fun with all the gears and afternoon heat!!
The rooms were comfortable and the hotel had a swimming pool.

Hong KongSome of the hotel staff at lobby can't really speak English, it takes some time to communicate with them for what we need.
Room is spacious with nice city view, onsen on top floor offers amazing beach view; within walking distance to the beach and nearby restaurants, excellent food quality of buffet breakfast plus great variety of choices

Rooms were clean and spacious, ocean view is pure love. Sunset views from top floor deck are breathtaking. Onsen with sea views is also great. Lots of dishes for breakfast, everything's fresh. Beach is very close.

New ZealandThe fact that there weren’t any amenity kits inside the room already, they had an amenity cart in the main foyer to collect from.
Location was perfect, close proximity to the beach, convenience stores and local restaurants. We booked an ocean view twin futon room which was ideal for us and our 3 toddlers. The facilities were nice and clean and the staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. Amenity kits for our kids were provided in our rooms upon arrival. Free hotel parking. Not many hotels that I’ve stayed in Japan have room service but this one did until 10pm. The breakfast was very good, lots of western choices and a variety of options.

LuxembourgThe pillows were a bit to big for me, but that is a matter of taste. Not really a complaint. You need a car (I had one, so it was fine).
Basically everything - modern hotel, great staff (speaking English), little shop with nice local products. View over the sea. The quiet. The view from the hot bath.

IrelandVery dated. Seems like it would have been new on the 90s. The private onsen was a bit grotty. This is supposed to be 5 star but the facilities were far from luxurious.
Location was decent but a bit of a walk away from everything. Pix were deceptive and implied it was right by the beach but it was up a hill and sea view obscured by the car park. The staff were lovely though.

AustraliaI wish i was given a higher level room for a better and clearer ocean view. The room i was given was on level 4, which is the lowest level of all hotel rooms, thus part of the ocean was blocked by the buildings and trees in front. I booked the room with halfboard package on booking.com . The dinner was ok, western fine dining style. However it would be good if the dinner can mix with Japanese style (I saw some other tables are having Shabu Shabu) and if guests can be given a choice of menu.
Onsen on top level was wonderful. It can overlook the whole area including the sea. Breakfast buffet is valuable with decent amount of food, and provide coffee and tea for takeaway. The japanese style room is spacious for 3 people, with a good mix of traditional japanese interior and modern bathroom style. There is very sufficient amount of car space available and is free of charge.
