AustraliaThe staffing is very light: often a single staff member on site expected to handle all of meals, transport, check in and guests services. There aren't clear written price lists for extras, eg ski rental, transportation, and so these are negotiated with staff on a case-by-case basis. Any costs beyond the booking fee must be paid in cash. Breakfast is served cold, as other reviews have noted, and is a fixed (and unwritten) daily menu. Guests are really expected to have their own car and this isn't made clear in the listing. For example, the staff are not familiar with the local shuttle bus options for the daytime, and and not always available to provide daytime transport. The on-site dinner, while very enjoyable (see above) was too expensive for every night (¥5000 per person) and they are not equipped to help guests with evening alternatives or any evening transport. The property is not walking distance from restaurants or supermarkets.
The staff members were lovely people and helped as much as they could with transport and gear within the constraints of their staffing levels. Very prompt communication on booking.com. Transport to and from train station provided. The rooms were large, clean, and well equipped (fridge, kettle, plenty of bedding to use on the mats, a number of cupboards, note no cooking equipment). The property's rental gear is not as extensive as a rental shop and may not fit taller guests in particular, but they have recently invested in a reasonable range of sizes and were very helpful in taking us to a resort rental shop for the remainder. The on site barbecue dinner (note: not included in the base price) was extensive and high quality; too much food for every night but a nice treat for the family!

AustraliaThe hosting was a little odd, often there was only one staff and they were busy covering all the guests or out giving guests lifts in the local area. The host didn’t speak much Japanese or English and translation for requests was often incorrect. They meant well but obviously aren’t used to customer service. Asked to pay in cash, so drove us to the ATM. We had breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was often cold, with a small selection (banana, salmon and a boiled egg), dinner was d.i.y hotpot or bbq which were both great but we cooked ourselves.
The location was great, the bottom of the slopes was a 10 minute walk, and Myoko Kogen is stunning. The property was a traditional style Japanese b&b and the rooms were huge and very clean.

The staff were friendly and helpful throghout our visit.The owner was super nice and pick us up and drop us off personally. The breafast was delicious and exceeded my expectations .I especially enjoyed the freshly salad and seasonal vegetables.The coffee was excellent too.A great way to start the day. The onsen was amazing.

Singapore1. onsen water was dirty. 2. first day staff seemed quite clueless about everything cos he was usually in hakuba and don't know the area. 3. only when owner brother came that we get the driveway cleared out of snow. before that was impossible to get car up and down the slope. 4. heard the ownership of lodge changed and this was their first season of operation. Thus a lot of operational issues. 5. Room tap no hot water. Freezing water every day brushing teeth and washing face. 6. Women toilet no replacement of toilet paper. after washing hands no towels for drying also. onsen bathroom only one hair dryer and area also not cleaned.
The owner's brother was helpful. The staff on first day seemed rather clueless and the path up to the lodge was not flattened and we were not able to get up the slope. Finally the owner flattened it but getting up and down without them clearing the snow was really treacherous.

SingaporeReturn to this same resort at Myoko after 2 years. What I like : 1. Near to several ski resorts 2. Provides transport to train station, to ski resorts, to dinner place 3. Onsen 4. Big Japanese room for 2 person (can fit 4) 5. Simple breakfast (new owners setting up). Kind of miss the Japanese type breakfast two year ago. 6. Can do dinner at resort 7. Nice drying and locker room for snow gears. 8. Quiet place for good night rest. 9. Discount lift tickets to Alpen Blick Ski resort that is few minutes away. New owners should run in the resort well this season and improve on the next season.
