Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesEverything was amazing, I should have booked a longer stay!
We loved our stay at this ryokan! Every one in our group wants to share that Hotel Keigetsu answered our prayers after our long hike on the Nakasendo trail. They were very accommodating and just generally pleasant people. We started our stay by unfortunately missing a bus due to a translation error on our end and they essentially rescued us from Komaba with their hotel shuttle after dark. They also helped us reserve bus tickets out of Hirugami later. They are clearly experienced with helping guide their guests to and from their ryokan. If possible, I recommend trying to time your arrival closer to 4 pm in case you get lost like we did. Also maybe consider asking for transportation recommendations because they seem well versed in the travel aspect of their guests journey. Dinner typically starts at 6 30pm at the latest. We arrived about an hour late on the shuttle when coming in but they still fed us after hours and we all showered and went to bed very happy. The dinner food was traditional Japanese with some beef and fish courses. Breakfast was similar with fish, egg and tofu courses. We ate in the banquet hall with private dividers. I don't know if they are able to accommodate diners in the rooms, but our party was too large for private in-room dining regardless. The banquet hall was plenty nice for us and our hostess was never far when we needed a drink etc. There were ample amount of courses, plenty of food to satisfy hungry hikers. The presentation of the food was delightful, the chef was masterful in assembling things and the food was very fresh. Regarding the Onsen, I'm a shy American who has not yet worked up the courage for the public baths so for myself and my husband I booked the 4 room suite with a private bath (room 407), it has hot spring waters piped in to a large wooden tub. It was exactly what these sore hikers muscles needed.

Brazileverything was great
Impecable service, both at reception and at the restaurant. The room was very comfortable, specially the bed. Everything was clean and cosy. Dinner and breakfast were not only tasty, but also complete hospitality experiences themselves. The onsen area was spacious and I found the temperature more confortable than other places that have piping hot water. The exterior onsen was a plus. The hotel had arranged a shuttle and ticket to Heavens Sonohara starry sky experience as I requested but ended up not going because of cloudy sky. I would definetly stay at this hotel again. Thank you for the perfect stay!

We loved the warm welcoming from the staff, so helpful and full of details. We had a nice tea upon arrival and enjoyed the onsen. The room was spacious and so typical. And the breakfast is a must!

ThailandIt is not on the riverside. But it is not a big deal because it was summer, there was a plenty of time before sunset to enjoy the riverside, strolling around the village. It's too bad that the gondola was closed for the periodically inspection, otherwise, we would have a wonderful gondola ride to the top of the mountain to stars gazing tour.
Staffs were very nice, specially a young lady who took care of us all the time we stayed. Breakfast and dinner are gorgeous. I myself enjoyed the onsen very much.

Hong KongStaff super helpful and accommodating - our lovely waiter (from Vietnam but both a Japanese and English speaker) was very friendly and offered to swap our breakfast the next morning from a Japanese to a Western breakfast when he saw we weren’t accustomed to the local breakfast foods. The reception was helpful with arranging transportation and drove us to the coach station in the neighbouring town on our last day to catch a coach to Tokyo. Catering was good and overall, very good value.

IsraelI was deceived by booking.com. The photos show a room with the title "quadruple room with private bath" as one that has a private hot spring bath (typical to this area and common in Japan in general). However, apparently, only a few rooms (if any) have the hotspring private bath as presented in the photos (where the photo has a sub-title of "quadruple room with private bath"). Given this, and given the high price of the room (nearly 300 USD, which is unusually high for the area and Japan in general), we expected to get the room with the private hot spring bath. Unfortunately, and to our (very bad) surprise, we got a very basic room with a TINY regular bath in a backdoor corner of the room (not a place it is pleasant to sit and watch the view like presented in the photo). When we spoke with the hotel representative in the reception, to our surprise, he was very rude, and told us "booking was created by people oversees that I do not know and not responsible for, and next time you are better off calling the hotel to book and avoiding internet booking and I cannot upgrade your room now, it is your problem". Clearly, we were very disappointed, and although the initial mistake and therefore responsibility was made by booking, we were shocked by the unhelpful and rude behaviour of the representative. Regardless, the hotel had a stinky smell, the rooms did not have a view (as was advertised in the photos), the rooms were old (again, in contrast to the photos), and the overall experience was of low quality.
nothing!
