How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Beds are not comfortable, hot rooms during the summer

Verified reviewThe bar was an excellent setup. The staff was so engaging, and I had the opportunity to get along with fellow travelers. The bed was very soft. But it wasn't a good choice for my neck. I prefer a sturdy mattress. I'm not complaining; it just didn't work out well for me. The room had enough space to keep our backpacks and to walk. It wasn't too narrow, and there was enough space to walk without getting bumped into anything.
The mattress, because I couldn't turn in my sleep. it was so soft and adapted to my body shape. So I couldn't change my position. This is only my experience. When I asked my fellow travelers, they said it was comfortable. Maybe it's my body that couldn't feel comfortable in it.

Verified reviewThe house is nice & cozy. It feels super nice to walk on the women floors. The staff were nice & the bed spacious and comfortable. They are offering towels free of charge.
The reception/bar area closes at 10pm & the only other shared space is the kitchen that would get very crowded while people were waiting for the shower, eating or just didn t want to go to bed early. It doesn’t have a ramp & there are a few steps ar every entrance, might probe challenging when dealing with a big luggage

Verified reviewThis hostel felt like family, everyone was incredibly kind, especially the staff. The bar and food are run by the staff and everything was amazing (the food was a 10/10!). The showers are spacious, and there are toilets on the top floor as well. The beds are great, and the kitchen is clean and fully equipped (they even have a free massage chair, haha). There are video games and various board games you can enjoy with other guests! The location is perfect! Just a 15-minute walk to Hiroshima Castle and about 30 minutes to the Peace Memorial Park. It’s less than a 10-minute walk to the nearest train station, and about 10 minutes by public transport from Hiroshima Station. I would highly recommend this hostel!

Verified reviewI only stayed for one night, but it was comfortable and the staff were friendly. The neighborhood was quiet and it wasn’t far from public transit. I walked from the hostel to Peace Park which took about 40 minutes since I was walking slowly, but it was a nice walk. Close to a convenience store and some restaurants.

Verified reviewThe house was a beautiful traditional style Japanese home, the women's dorm was comfortable and spacious, the bathrooms and kitchen were all very well maintained and unique.
When the common area was open as a bar / restaurant hostel guests weren't allowed to drink their own alcohol or stay in the common room after closing time which was dissapointing.

Verified reviewComfortable beds, decent bunk pods (inadequate curtains though), cheap laundry use, kitchen and fridge with cookware. Free coffee and tea. Massage chair was nice. Staff were nice (as is the norm in Japan). Staying in essentially an old house with paper walls is quaint, but see below.
- I think this hostel is overpriced, and felt a bit deceived with the high rating on booking.com. - Not enough toilets or showers. - It is NOISY, right on a main road and beside two rail lines (local and Shinkansen), and everytime a car/train passes you can hear it and the old windows rattle. Also, you can hear everything in the house due to paper walls. Yes they provide earplugs, but that's not comfortable for an entire night. Also, the curtains don't cover the windows and are not blackout. You WILL sleep poorly and wakeup with the sunrise. - All the sinks are in the hallways right by the kitchen, very weird setup with no privacy. - The bar downstairs has all the owners friends come on the weekend and there is nowhere to sit or hang out except on a table outside which is also the smoking area. Also only one table inside the hostel to sit and eat. Ultimately I can't recommend this place as it doesn't meet the basics of accommodation, that is being able to sleep well. I left early and went to a great hotel nearby for only a bit more per night.

Verified reviewThe first thing to come to mind is the hospitality of the staff ! They were very welcoming, and it was really nice to exchange with them during our stay ! So if you love to chat, don't hesitate ^^. The hostel is near the train station by foot (around 20 minutes) and even closer by transport. It is the same to go to the center of Hiroshima. I was in the female dormitory. It is spacious enough for the number of people in it, and you have plenty of space to leave your luggage. And a locker if you need it. I will definitively come again !
Everything was nice.

Verified reviewStaff were lovely! The dorm was a little tight for space but did the job for a night. The bed was comfy and there was ample air con. Welcome drink given too which was very kind. We really enjoyed our stay.
The space within the dorm felt too tight to be able to access items in bags etc without disturbing everyone in the dorm, there wasn't really anywhere else to do that as the communal space downstairs was also a bit small.

Verified reviewThe facility is located close to the JR Shin-Hakushima Station (新白島駅). It takes about 5 min to walk from the station to Roku Hostel. There are not many shops around this quiet neighborhood, but one can just hope on to JR train and ride 1 stop to get to Hiroshima Station. The facility is clean and has a warm homey feel to it. There is a small bar within the facility, but I did not have the chance to try it out since I only stay here for one evening.
It would of been nice to see a few more hooks in the shower/bathing room to hang clothing.
