Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

South AfricaThe stairs leading to the hostel.
Good enough if you on a tight budget. Two train stops from Osaka Station. Easy to find from the train station. The rooms just provides the bed, fridge and aircon. May be tight for two people, depends.

AustraliaIf possible to add a special channel/tv for foreigners is a good idea 👍 please consider so visitors from other countries can enjoy this while in room.
The ambiance is not that we expect. The place is simple but has a quiet and home feeling. Has an organised and clean atmosphere. Staff were very polite, friendly and welcoming. All essentials are available . It feels like a home away from home.

United StatesThere are so many stair to get to the lobby. If you have heavy bags, you won’t want to stay here. The lockers for your bags are big metal ones that are so loud when opening and shutting. I felt bag for the other person in my room as I was trying to sneak out in the morning.
Very affordable and right next to the Tran station.

JapanI think it would have been very awkward to stay in the dormitory room with a stranger. The walls that separate the two spaces do not reach all the way to the ceiling or ground. It is also a very small space, but it was good for my short stay with my friends.
The location was right next to the train station, so it was very convenient. Major tourist areas are all very close distances from the hostel. The beds were also very comfortable, and kept strictly clean as you are not allowed to eat in them. I requested to room with my friend in the dormitory rooms, which also made my stay more comfortable.

United StatesAccess to this hostel required walking up to the third floor, this is not accessible unless you are able to make the climb! The entrance is a bit easy to miss unless you keep a sharp eye out.
Located less than one minute walk from the JR Noda Station off the Osaka Loop Line, Rota Hostel is conveniently placed. The staff were all quite pleasant and they offer self-check-in if you arrive after hours. I booked a very small private room (just room for a bed and a small fridge) so the noise was minimal but there were children running around the halls and they could be clearly heard until I used some earplugs. There are lockers available for those not in a private room. A patio, lounge, and kitchen area are all available to guests.

Austria- Even though I saw the room on the picture before I booked it, I was still surprised at how small it was. You couldn't even open up your suitcase. - There was a vibrational noise coming from the hallway that was extremely annoying. Even with earplugs it was difficult to sleep. I think some nights it was turned off, but most of the time, it was on. - One time they didn't change my trash bin during the day, and didn't get a new towel. Another time I got a towel that was dirty. - I didn't like the way the water system was set up. It was like a public shower. You have to constantly hit the button to get water running. I don't get why would they do that in a hostel. It was annoying. - They don't give you a towel for the face unless you pay for it! This felt a bit exploitative. - The most annoying thing for me was the restrictions on the washing machine. They have a rule that you can't use the washing machine without a staff supervision, and the staff is only there until 10pm. On my last day I needed to do my laundry, but the guy at the reception told me I can't use the dryer because he won't be here. At the end, he rushed washing of my clothes, and I don't know what he did but some of my shirts shrunk, and most of the clothes were still wet. Then he told me I can't use the dryer because he won't be here. I had to go outside to find some laundry store to dry my clothes and the guy didn't even let me borrow the clothes basket! I understand those were the rules, but come on.. this is just senseless. - I am not sure to what does the window points to, but it wasn't the outside. So it didn't make sense to open it, and inside the room it would get really hot at times. You could turn on the air conditioner, but if you leave it on all night you're gonna get sick.
- I liked some of the staff - The location was great. Right next to a station with good connection to everywhere - Neighborhood was good too. A lot of restaurants and stores nearby, and it wasn't loud at night either. - The balcony was nice, and I liked that there's a vending machine in it. - The common area was generally clean and comfy.

AustraliaThe description on booking.com was a bit ambiguous and we booked the room expecting private bathroom. But all bathrooms are shared and you'd have to go out your room walking a bit if you'd like to go in the middle of night.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They mostly speak English and made things a lot easier. The location is convenient for everything - both Osaka metro (I think?) and JR stations are 1-4min walk away, and there are coco ichibanya, kushikatsu, 7-eleven, a supermarket and syzaria nearby.

United KingdomThe free washing machine was fantastic. But after 3 hours in the tumble dryer, our clothes were still as wet as when they went in. We used the dryer in the coin laundry a few minutes walk away instead. Cannot complain as dryer in hostel was free anyway. Also be aware the check out time is to be out of the whole property, not just clearing out of your rooms. We misunderstood and continued to use the common area for 20mins after check out and were asked to leave.
Great location. Spotlessly clean. Nice common areas, especially to have outdoor space. Great to have washing machine free of charge.
