Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomSuch a lovely hotel with a great atmosphere and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The Onsen was lovely at the end of a day's skiing. The food was traditional and delicious. They also hire ski gear, including clothes, goggles and helmet.

United StatesThe only caveat is the hotel interior is a bit dated, but all of the other lodging options in Shiga Kogen are the same. The breakfast food was a bit light on protein on the weekday, but significantly improved on the weekend when more people came. The dining hall here was much cozier than the other hotels.
We had a wonderful experience at Sachinoyu, which we learned means “Happy Onsen.” We came in late January to ski in Shiga Kogen and would definitely like to come back again. We had friends stay at two different nearby hotels at the same time, but we would recommend Sachinoyu for the following reasons: - The Staff: they were all super friendly and helpful. In particular, there was a lovely lady named Evon who was fluent in English, Chinese in addition to Japanese and other languages. She was able to explain over chat how best to get there from the airport, and how to get around Shiga Kogen. Evon, thanks for all your help! We also liked the warm, family-run feeling of the place. - Shuttle Service: our friends at the nearby hotels had to take the public bus to get to the ski resorts and then back to their hotels. But Sachinoyu offered a much more convenient and flexible van service to take you to the nearby resorts and pick up in the evenings. (there are no local taxi’s in Shiga Kogen, would have to call one further away from Yudanaka) - Location: was centrally located between the Yamanoeki station (where you can enter the central Shiga Kogen ski fields) as well as the Kumanoyu and Yokoteyama resorts. With their shuttle service, we could get to any of these in 5 minutes.

JapanGorgeous location and extremely friendly and helpful staff. The hotel has a very homely feel and an adorable dog. They have everything you need, including ski rental. The hot baths gave a cosy, onsen vibe and we highly looked forward to it after a long day in the cold mountains. Overall, highly recommend. A really nice place to stay.

PhilippinesNothing really. Just to point out that the Hotel is quite remote - no convenience stores or restaurants nearby, although if you want to visit other nearby places there is a free shuttle bus service that runs frequently up and down the mountain.
An awesome stay for 2 nights. On the day we arrived the snowfall had been quite intense we could not have walked with our suitcases to the property. It was great to have connection via Whatsapp as we were able to call & they sent a vehicle to collect us. Dinner on both evenings was awesome - so much variety & fabulous presentation. Amazing breakfast aswell. Ma'am Nakamura just such a friendly & welcoming person, nothing was too much trouble for her. She helped us with all of our local and onward travel arrangements. Great option to have the use of the Onsen after coming in from the cold. We would certainly return.

United KingdomPublic bath area aren’t very clean most of the time, there are lots of hair at the sink area day and night. Ski clothing and equipments for rental are very basic for the price compare to what you can get from the shop. It’s sufficient if you only need it for a day or 2. I got a pair of glove that is so stink I doubt they ever wash anything after each rental :(
Lovely guest house run by the Nakamura family. They have everything you need for a short ski trip. Free shuttle to Kumanoyu or Yamanoeki station where you can connect to other ski resorts in the area. Food is lovely with different varieties everyday.

IrelandWe had a fantastic stay at this Sachinoyu The hotel is run by an exceptionally friendly, kind and accommodating family - they helped us with absolutely everything we needed which made our time in Shigakogen such a good experience. Great location close to the Kumanoyu and Yokoteyama resorts. The hotel offers a shuttle service which made getting to and from the slopes extremely convenient for us. We were also able to rent ski gear from the hotel which again made everything hassle free for us! The onsen was such a treat after coming back cold from skiing! Not to mention the gorgeous lavender toiletries that helped us to unwind and relax! Beds are super comfortable. The food was great - it is very clear that the staff put a lot of hard work and effort into each meal. They were also very accommodating with my dietary requirements.
