How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location was a great starting point for the Shimanami Kaido cycling route. I liked the free happy hour beer and the breakfast was simple and tasy.
The facilities were nice, but the room's layout was odd based on how small it was. There is a small hallway leading to the bed, which makes it challenging to store luggage away. The rules against tattoos at the onsen feels archaic and outdated, although it's still commonplace in some Japanese hotels.

Verified reviewWe had the “Suite with ocean view “ which was very large and comfortable. The location is perfect to start the Shimanami Kaido bicycle tour from the harbor. The hotel is part of the “same-day-luggage-delivery” of Sagawa.
Compared to the prices for normal size rooms, we found this one a bit too expensive.

The pillow is a bit hard…… my preference

Verified reviewThe location was central to all my needs before starting the Shimanami Kaido. The hotel is basically next to the train station, a 7-11, the bike rental place and the ferry to use at the start of the course. Room was spacious, with a water view, powerful AC and high water pressure. You can also walk, or take a cable car up to the main temple park with a short walk. Solid breakfast buffet and easy luggage shipping to my next hotel at the end of the ride.
Cannot find a fault with this place.

Verified reviewI have stayed in many many hotels in Japan over the years and I'm taking the time to review this one because it was excellent. First and foremost all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It really was great service with a very genuine smile. Second, for the size of the hotel and the room cost, the buffet breakfast was great - lots to choose from and all of good quality. And finally, an excellent location close to transport and the sea. Do pay the extra and get a sea view room, the working port is a marvel to watch over a cup of tea.

Verified reviewGreat location convenient to the bus, trains, and shimanami kaido ferry and bike rental as well as sightseeing spots. Nice staff, good views, clean, and relatively spacious room. They will also help you forward your luggage to your next hotel if riding the shimanami kaido.
Breakfast was just okay, didn't get a comfortable sleep (might be because I started to get sick, though), only one elevator.

Verified reviewThe room was fresh and clean, not super-small. The breakfast was exceptional for an inexpensive business hotel. There was that nice lady in the restaurant who really made my stay brighter - she was welcoming, helpful, and did something useful all the time, like a busy bee caring for people around. Like, it's the first time I see someone of a business hotel staff put so much passion into their routing job, applause!
The view was nice, but the windows had that safety net and allowed just a narrow opening. Suboptimal. Why are you so afraid of visitors opening windows? We come to Japan to enjoy our stay, not to jump from heights or something.
