Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsAlthough one of the few affordable places, I still found the price a bit steep. Especially when I extended a night and had to move rooms. But I might've missed the opportunity to book the extension on booking which usually seems cheaper than at the front desk. Also, the place is far out if you do the Shikoku 88 pilgrimage. Probably not a place that gets lots of Ohenro-sans!
It was one of the few affordable places in the area during my pilgrimage. It's a nice hotel with a very comfortable room including a desk to work on and its own private shower and toilet. For an extra fee, you can enjoy an amazing buffet breakfast. The staff is friendly and although not well-educated in English, with some help from Google translate, mixed in with some Japanese words and hand & feet, I got around well! Also, right next door is a supermarket so you can get great bentos and stuff and eat it in your room. Ah huge plus is the free coffee at the front desk. Freshly grounded beans!

JapanStaff gave me the impression that I was going to get scammed, although I believe she had no malicious intent. She didn't even bother to use Google translate in our conversation even when I had highlighted that I'm not Japanese and my Japanese level is basic. I'm currently a foreign resident in Japan, so I'm eligible for the campaign discount issued by the government. However, that requires showing proof of 3 doses of vaccination / negative PCR test, residence card, etc. Even though she can't speak English at all (it's totally fine, I wasn't expecting her to), the least she could've done was to mention something like "COVID" or "vaccine". Like, come on, it's been 3 years, whether or not you know English, you definitely can mouth the words "vaccine", or at the very very least, "COVID". Had she done that, I'd have guessed right away the things she needed. Ok, I then remembered that she was probably referring to those items, so I showed my proof of 3 doses of vaccination. However, she still appeared confused and kinda looked at me in disbelief. She mistakenly assumed that I was ineligible for the campaign discount, and wanted to refund my discounted online booking of ~5,000+ yen and charge me ~9,000 yen in cash on the spot instead. I was so confused, seriously. Luckily, I called a Japanese friend, and he helped me clarify everything. She then finally understood. Had I not have someone to help translate, I would have had no choice but to fork out almost double of what I was supposed to for a very substandard room. In summary, the staff should have spent more time and effort to find out details, rather than just assume things.
Good for just a layover, although I have to say that I didn't particularly like anything.

JapanThere were a few gnats and a spider that hid in the bathroom, but those were easy to get rid of and not a hugely pressing concern.
The location was very convenient. I thought it was a really lovely touch that the hotel had maps available of the nearby area, so travelers knew where sightseeing spots, restaurants, and convenience stores were as needed!
