We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

United StatesI loved staying here! I stayed in a Japanese style room and it was the most comfortable room out of all the hotels I used during my trip. But I would say the main selling point is the staff. They were phenomenal! They were very welcoming and super accommodating. The front desk staff were always willing to answer my questions. I wish I remembered her name, but I want to thank one of the front desk staff making me a last minute dinner reservation the day before. The food is also another selling point. Breakfast was something I looked forward to; it was very filling despite the small portions! If I had planned it better, I also would have liked to have dinner every night of my stay. The servers were very attentive and explained any dishes unfamiliar to me. Shout to Peco for her help at dinner!

SingaporeThe futon are really warm ?! A bit uncomfortable i must say.
Our stay at Sensui was so lovely. The location is perfect. The structure and rooms are beautiful and immaculately clean. The design and aesthetics are beautiful. The chef and the kaiseki - seasonal and beef- were both phenomenal. So, so beautifully presented and so,so delicious. And our server, Nao.. so gorgeous! Lovely smile all the time, very good english, great explanations, and she does the sweetest and prettiest drawings!! She really made our stay- Nao and the Chef. 😊 excellent experience. Japan continues to exceed all expectations of excellence. (Kinosakionsen is also a very beautiful town, easy to walk around, the onsen are wonderful and it's very worth the visit- we needed longer!) I hope I come back one day. ありがとうございます

United KingdomPerhaps a choice of menus for dinner could be a good alternative - it was a real shame we didn't enjoy dinner - especially as it was served over 2.30 hrs - which was a long time.
Location was great !! We had a traditional Japanese dinner which we didn't enjoy - too much raw fish. Breakfast was moderately better. Room was nice. Loved the yukata & accessories provided by the hotel & the advise on how to wear it !!

AustraliaOur room was a bit on the older side, but very clean and well maintained so not a real complaint.
Sensui was an amazing stay- probably one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. Everything was so thoughtful, the staff were so incredibly helpful and kind, the property was beautiful and the private baths were amazing. I would 100% stay again.

United KingdomNothing, it was incredible. If anything I would say book 3 nights so you can explore the town more.
Staying at Sensui was one of the highlights of the trip! First and foremost, the staff are wonderful. We had the joy of knowing Peco and Mina the most and they were kind and took the time to add little, personal touches to make sure your entire stay was amazing. The room was large, clean, spacious and modern. The facilities were incredible especially the private onsen and there’s also a really nice library on the second floor which we loved reading in. You are provided with a yukata and sandals to wear during your stay. I would highly recommend eating at the hotel. The omakase meal is fantastic! We had dinner for two nights and the seafood is incredible! There’s also Japanese wine and sake to drink. Kinosaki is a beautiful town to explore and we loved going to all the different onsens but it was made even better by knowing we had Sensui to return to.

United Arab EmiratesNot a dislike but some confusion with our lack of Japanese over when and where to be wearing what in and around the hotel.
Beautiful, relaxing, calm stay. We stayed in the twin room with beds. Very comfortable beds and a toilet in the bedroom space, shared bathroom on ground floor. Private onsen on site was also very enjoyable. Both dinner and breakfast were a great experience of Japanese food. All staff very attentive and welcoming. Walking and exploring the town by foot and bus was easy and enjoyable. Will definitely return and recommend . We felt extremely relaxed and cleansed on departure.

New ZealandNothing - our stay was perfect!
So peaceful and relaxing from the moment we arrived. Off the Main Street which adds to the tranquility but still super close to everything as Kinosaki Onsen is tiny. The staff were attentive and lovely, with excellent English. The private onsen was lush, as were all the public ones that we tried. We found the futons to be very comfortable and slept well. In fact we overslept as we had planned to visit an onsen before breakfast but ended up enjoying a lie in! We upgraded to the Tajima beef meal and it was exquisite, probably the best meal of my life. This was a much more pricey hotel than I would normally choose, but was excellent value for money for a unique and luxurious experience.

AustraliaThe beds and pillows were a little hard Shower caps and body lotion would have been appreciated. It was very expensive although I appreciate you are paying for the experience. There is an onsen tax in addition.
So beautifully presented. Private onsens were lovely. Staff were fabulous. Bedroom was large. Centrally located. Onsen passes come with the room.

NorwayEverything was great. The service was out of this world, the food in a class of its own, and the room beautiful. Location was also perfect with close proximity to the public onsens. An extra treat was the two private onsens on the premises.

SwedenI'm just being picky here. There was a rather formal atmosphere there. The shared areas on the ground floor were designed in a sleek minimalist way and all the staff spoke politely but you feel like you have to speak in hushed voices during breakfast due to how echoey the space was. Wasn't quite a 'personality' fit but if you like this kind of vibe, then this is the place for you.
Right on the strip where all the onsens are located. We got the day pass together with our stay which was nice. Complementary evening sake was nice! The room was rather nice. Typical japanese style in the one we booked. There was also a booklet with recommendations from the staff.

AustraliaNothing.
We like how the property is very convenient with the location from the railway station to shops and to all the public onsen. Plus the property it self is very relaxing. My husband and I chose the traditional bedroom with futon. The property also offers 2 private onsen which we have used a lot during our stay and at night they offer 3 different flavour of Sake that you can enjoy. Defenitely will book it again the next time we visit KinosakiOnsen

SingaporeThere are no toiletries in the room. The shared bathroom is inside the 2 private onsen and at certain times they are closed for washing so be sure to check the timing.
The location was excellent, less than 10min walk from the train station, and close to the public onsen and shops and restaurants. The room is very new and clean. The hotel provides Yukata with very warm outer winter coat and snow boots for walking on snowy and icy roads.

AustraliaThere was a Chinese male staff who is not really friendly but he did help us. The other staffs were friendly and very helpful.
The place was very clean and the japanese room was amazing, only regret we didn't book for 2 nights instead of one. The futon bed was really comfortable and the view outside the window was lovely. Staff were very kind and friendly. The hotel has 2 indoor onsen with shower so you can shower in the hotel without going to the public onsen. Location is good, we will definitely be back again.

Our stay at SENSUI was phenomenal! The staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is modern and clean, and the traditional Japanese room was beautifully laid out with lovely views over the town into the hills. The hotel provided all the clothing and items we needed to go to the onsens in the town. We opted for having dinner which was a really delicious affair. Multiple courses like a tasting menu, of fish and beef, with our wonderful server who showed us how to cook shabu shabu. The dining area felt like a high end restaurant in its lay out and decoration. There was even a complimentary Sake tasting after. Breakfast too was relaxed and delicious. The town itself was amazing, we loved wandering around the canal, visiting the Osen and taking the ropeway up the nearby mountain. Would love to stay here again!
