Very loud squeaking door to the bottom floor room - definitely needs to be taken care of.

Shingu Geusthouse was nice place to stay. It was about a 5 min walk from the bus/train station. The town of Shingu is very quite make sure to make your dinner plans early as everything closes sooner than expected. I would stay at this property again.

We were there 2 nights and since there are no staff onsite it would have been helpful to know if there would be other guests or not (there were one night but not the other).

The property was a pleasant and convenient place to stay within easy walking distance from the train station and the numerous sites we wanted to visit.

I had a very nice stay at Shingu Guest House! The lady in charge was really nice and quick to answer my questions via private messages. The room was spacious with a private sink and the futon was surprisingly very confortable (I've slept on a lot of different ones so I can tell the difference). You have access to a small kitchen with a microwave as well. The stairs to the room were very steep so if you have an issue with that maybe reconsider or try to contact the guest house, they have a room on the first floor. The house is 10 min walk from the station and less than 2 min walk from the nearest bus stop.

there are another rooms, and we had neighbours, so we could here them talk (the walls are not thick), but that was acceptable and we all slept well.

Very kind host, old fashioned traditional japanese house, with decorations, and all amenities (we used the washing machine).

The place is very traditional and it's basically having your own home. Traditional rooms with tatami and very comfortable futon. Kitchen, bathroom and showers are shared by the 4 or 5 rooms there, but they're clean and comfortable. The lady is very nice and explains everything perfectly.

Beautiful property with traditional tatami flooring in the upstairs bedrooms. Kitchen is well stocked and the place has nice amenities like towels, extra blankets etc. Bikes are free to ride around the city which I used to get to the 3 main shines, couldnt ask for anything more! Host was super accomodating and allowed me to check in an hour early, would stay here again.

The only drawback was climbing down the stairs and crossing the entire house every time I wanted to visit the bathroom. But this being a traditional house, it is what it is, and this appears to be reflected in the price which was very low compared to other accommodation in the area.

Shingu Guest House Sou is in a small traditional Japanese House with just three rooms. I would say that proved the best value for money on the entire trip. I had a huge private room with access to full size kitchen, a huge lounge, free bicycle hire and a laundry room. The room was really nice, traditional, simple smalltown style, I loved it. The big sitting rooms was really nice to relax in, too.

Some people might find the walls quite thin between the two upstairs rooms.

Japanese style accommodation on futons in traditional wooden house. Loved staying in a real wooden house, spacious room, lovely living areas. Walking distance to the station. Fun to explore the town using free bikes at the house.

Property probably needs a little maintenance, doors not closing properly, etc, and kitchen and interior is from 1960s at a guess, but I enjoyed my stay.

In an old style Japanese house, very clean, easy walk from the station and very comfy beds. Very quiet. I was in a nice big room with 4 beds.

I didn't like that no matter how you stepped on them, the stairs were noisy. Not convenient for going to the toilet at night.

The place is really close to the train station and they lent us their bikes for free, so we could see the whole town on the single day we stayed there. We stayed upstairs, the room was very spacious, well decorated and the futon was very comfortable.

No thing really. Love this place

It’s on Kumano Kodo route, great location! The village is small but lovely, walked a few minutes to a center where has a shop and a a few restaurants. Love the coffee and pastries place next to the market! The room is large and supper clean and comfortable. Open the window, you see the mountains and the village in distance. Big kitchen, good size bathroom and shower. The owner speaks fluent English and Chinese,is very friendly, helpful!
