Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Czech RepublicThe location is a bit off, although main tourist destinations are so scattered around Kyoto, that it didnt matter that much in the end. Public transport is close by. There was very little space where to put our stuff (hang clothes etc).
Very friendly staff, spoke fluent English. The hotel is very new, clean and nice.

IsraelNarrow stairs to the second floor, lack of chair, low quality of slippers, lack of shelves in the shower, first shower not bath in our Japanese hotels experience, location is a bit far away from the center
Really new minimalistic hotel with aesthetic entrance garden and door. Very nice details that fulfill your sense of beauty, everything was actually new

United StatesIt is perfect for minimalists. Maybe a few more comfort items such as a better chair for the desk. But that is just me. Others will love it.
A very nice small hotel run by a private family. Very clean and aesthetically pleasing. The location was great for me, it was where I needed to be. They were very accommodating and responsive to my needs. It was a safe and comfortable place traveling alone.

SpainAs not Japanese-speakers, we would appreciate some instructions in English in the room on how to use the heating system or the television. Be sure to ask for the WIFI too as there are no instructions for it in the room either. Location was not the best for us: you are almost 1h walking from the center of Kyoto. Only the Imperial Castel was easy to visit for us. We didn't find so many restaurants at night either. It seems more of a residential area. As it is new, the common space don't have heating system and there isn't a proper hall in the hotel yet. I believe it will be available soon though.
The hotel is quite new and you can see it as everything is new too. It is very clean and it has a good look. Staff is super gentle and they speak a very good English, always available to give you advices or directions. It is nearby some supermarkets and there is a clothes machine service super close (2m walk) which saved our trip!

AustraliaHotel was cozy and comfortable, nice and close to some cute places to eat and the Golden Temple. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was larger than most we've stayed at in Japan and had a nice balcony looking out to the mountains. Great for sunrise!

South KoreaRoom had a kettle but no cups, glasses or tea or coffee. It was quite cold in April we didn't realise we could switch what appeared to be the aircon on as a heater until end of our stay. No facilities or lift to first floor only rooms. A guest house than hotel in reality. Location quite far from nearest metro about a 15min walk but taxi apps will collect you.
Lovely fluffy big towels! The room and bathroom were very modern. Manager was very friendly and willing to chat.

JapanThere is nothing besides a bed and TV stand/table in the room--no stools, chairs, side tables or folding luggage racks. The minimalist design seemed to be the priority consideration for traveler needs or comfort. Minimal service.
Bright room with big window to small balcony. Nice location in Nishijin near many small restaurants/café; great walking neighborhood. Comfortable king bed.

SpainRegarding the hotel, maybe to have more info regarding places to visit and discover in the neighborhood.
The space and relaxing experience of the hotel. Also discovering the neighborhood was stimulating, a bit far from the touristic area but intentionally selected, so it cover my expectations regarding spending time with the locals.

TurkeySound insulation of windows are not good. Sound from the street was coming inside unfiltered. Surprisingly, that narrow street is becoming quite noisy on very early morning times.
Very cosy, very clean and well designed room. Very nice, kind and helpful staff. Location is little bit far away from city center, on the other hand closer to some temples and touristic places. There are local restaurants and conbinis nearby.

BelgiumThe hotel is modern and new. I like the style and the decor, very minimalist. However, some aspects bothered me: 1. There are no curtains in the room. If you are sensitive to light, you are surely not be able to sleep unless you have a sleep mask. 2. Besides not having curtains, the bottom half of the room window (that takes the full length and hight of the wall) had 100% transparent glass. Meaning you have absolutely no privacy in your hotel room as neighbors could easily see through your window. 3. No clean towels are provided on a daily basis. I understand the rooms are not cleaned every day, but at least clean towels could be provided. 4. The shower drain seemed clogged and water was having a hard time going away. Positive aspects: 1. Location: there is a great bakery nearby (called Tom Sawyer); a convenience store; a coin laundry; sentos and nice restaurants around. 2. The staff was nice and helpful and one of them spoke great english.

TaiwanNice small hotel in a very quite area, yet with convenient store 3 mins away. Subway is about 10-15 mins of walk, but this goes through nice narrow streets with low local houses and nearly no car, but several nice temples. My flight was largely delayed and the reception waited for me. And before the typhoon they allowed me to return and stay longer in case I cannot make it out of Kyoto, without any official booking or reservation fee.
