Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesCheck-in process was bad. You have to go to another location (5 min walk) and check in using a tablet that's nailed outside. There is no person you could talk to, and check-in instructions were confusing. There are two locations owned by the same company and the tablet is located at the other one. Why didn't they install another tablet at the inn, I don't know. The other inn (dorm) has nobody to ask as well, the owners clearly try to economize on personnel. There is no parking. The parking space in front of the inn is actually someone else's private space. There is a parking lot nearby that you can use but if it's full you're out of luck. And you have to know how to use Japanese automated parking lots (not hard, just need to know the sequence of motions). If you're bhave a car, you'd better have a very small one. A regular Toyota Corolla had trouble squeezing into narrow streets that led to the hotel. Google maps doesn't know the width of streets, and they are VERY narrow. So be prepared.
Private room was great, but it had more of a dorm feel. The room is suitable for up to 4 people (a double bed and two single beds), and it has a patio with chairs and grill (no gas, though), and even a private sauna (which you'd have to pay separately for). Overall it's not a hotel, it's a dorm.

United KingdomOur room had a terrace with a door which only locked and unlocked from the outside so the room wasn’t secure. We weren’t on the ground floor and the town felt very safe, so not a huge issue but a key to lock from the inside would be helpful for future guests.
The room was spacious with everything we needed. Beds very comfortable.

Hong KongIt was not easy to get into the accommodation. You have to go to another building a few minutes walk away to check in. Also the stairs in the accommodation is steep and can be slippery so not easy with heavy cases.
Location is good and the terrace is a bonus

Loved the location in the old part of town. So close to a big selection of intimate eateries.

JapanThis is a self-check-in and check-out stay without any presence of staff. But the check-in is located in another property around 5 mins walk, and the instructions was NOT clear at all. Some facilities are no available such as the common room in the pictures shown in the website before confirming my booking.

AustraliaA convoluted sign-in process and not the best communication with regard to parking. Room was not marked 204 so we walked past the door marked 'private' many times.
Room was clean and spacious in a good location. Sauna was great.

AustraliaWhere we got to leave our bags before and after check out Aircon was noisy
The room is nice. Check in is a bit annoying as you have to go to a different building to self check in at an iPad. Easy enough but they could have a tablet at each entrance. They kept our bags for 1 night as we did the cult king over Shimanami Kaido. The bags where left in a dorm environment in a lounge room, felt a bit worrying but Japan is so safe so we did not have any problems.

TaiwanWe stayed in room 201, this Japanes room was spacious, clean and cozy. The only problem was the self check-in system .The tablet was hidden in a small box and the hostel entrence was also hard to find .The check-in process was like a treasure hunt challenge, I can't tell either I love it or hate it . Anyway it's an unforgetable experience. I love ONOMICHI !

GermanyIt takes about 18min to walk from the train station which is ok. Also it is quite loud. You can hear the other guests in the hallway.
Room size was very nice and the balcony attached to the room was very pretty. Check-in/ out was convenient and contactless. Also there was a microwave in the hallway for common use.

SingaporeMy major issue with the property was that it was extremely cold. There were 2 air conditioners (cleaning indicator was on) in the room, but even after putting it on hot settings, it was still freezing. I had to resort to using a hairdryer to keep warm. I think it will be a lot more enjoyable with a portable heater of sorts. As highlighted by a few guests, the check in process was difficult in the freezing temperatures. The toilet was cold and located outside the room, at the end of the corridor.
Space - there was a lot of space. They were also very responsive on chat. I think there were no other guests that day so we had the whole floor. It appears that there are a few nice restaurants near the property. We could also walk to the temple walk.

GermanyThe name of the room is misleading. It features „private bathroom“, but it doesn’t include a private toilet! That was a big surprise to know that the toilet is shared. Child had a free stay in the Booking price, but the stuff didn’t provide an additional bed and asked to pay more for that. Sound isolation is very poor. Check in is required to be done at another location.
The room style is nice
